They ain't going to find nary a thing except medicine that I take. For the money spent, I don't think they are going to catch people doing what you said. And it is expensive. Come on. People in pretty much every walk in life are subjected to drug testing. I am real suprised by your response. No way the bolded is accurate. My dad did construction for 50 years of his life and NEVER took a drug test. My mom worked in the banking industry for 50 years of her life and never took a drug test. My sister was a beautician and never took a drug test. Heck, as a teacher I have never taken a drug test. My brother-in-law laid asphalt and never took a drug test. My mother-in-law works for an insurance company and never took a drug test. I worked for Levis in the summer and never took a drug test. Now I did work for SportsService at Riverfront and did have to take a drug test and did administer drug tests.
April 22, 200818 yr My experiences with it and the athletes on my team. A computer at the drug testing company spits out a number that is assigned to the kid. NO NAMES. They give that list of numbers to the AD who then pulls up his list of athletes' names and numbers and has those athletes brought to the restrooms being used for the testing. The random list is done by the drug testing company and they have no names with the numbers. Yeah I knew that, I was just making a comment for the poster that thought it was strange someone was picked 3 times in three years. My son I think was actually the first person ever tested in our schools history and was just tested again. I told him he needed to get a picture with a specimen cup for the yearbook.:lol:

I have no problem with a teacher wearing shorts or anything for that matter as long as it is appropriate. And maybe they should not be treated the same but they have a lot of responsiblity sitting on their shoulders. I think it should be treated just like any other company that tests its employees. They are in charge of the kids of the future and it should be a known fact that they are not involved with the wrong stuff. :thumb: As I said it doesn't happen often but I have actually seen it happen in the middle school a few years back.

If the argument is for the safety of the children to drug test teachers, that is a fair argument. If the argument is that teachers should be drug tested because students are, that is ridiculous.

Those that don't are asking for a huge problem.

If the reason is that I should be tested because some 14-year old is tested, well that is not a good reason.
April 22, 200818 yr In all fairness, none of our parents had to take drug tests. It wasnt done in those days. Different world now. Drug testing is relatively new. I had to pass one for employment and it is understood that you can be tested at any time. As I said before, I think most professions should have the same guidelines. What if you were a principal and had a teacher you suspected was using? Dont you think that principal has the responsibility to check it out for the sake of the children he/she is in charge of? I agree that the "what is good for the student is good for the teacher" argument is wrong. However, there are legitimate reasons that both should be subject to testing.
April 22, 200818 yr I was just stating that EVERY person involved in a school system should be tested...not just a select few. My point is that education dollars are tight. Most districts are cutting teachers this year. I would rather see these funds being spent on teachers rather than specimen cups. Especially, since it is going to not result in many if any failed tests.
