April 21, 200818 yr I agree too. I've never understood the popularity of rap or hip hop. It's just not music to me. Maybe I'm old and don't understand the new styles, but all rap is to me is someone talking out a song, with way too much loud bass in the background to cover up the lack of vocal skills. Actually if you listen to Hailie's Song by Eminem off of his Eminem Show album you'll hear that Eminem is actually a respectable singer as well. Don't get me wrong he wouldn't exactly win American Idol but he's as good as some singers you'll hear on the radio.

April 21, 200818 yr Any rapper is horrible. Rap is not music at all, it is for people that can't sing. I can't even understand any of the words to it. Its the worst noise I've ever heard. I don't like rap, but to discredit it as music is crazy IMO.

I have heard a few of his songs, and they were filled with filth. I can't understand why young kids like him so much? Every other word is F and B and Wh ... I'll second that, terrible lyrics and an annoying voice.:lol:

April 26, 200818 yr Will Smith is the only rapper that I feel doesn't belong on the list. His early songs(before T.V) are classics. I saw somebody said that Nelly is more "hip hop" and that couldn't be more wrong. "Hip Hop" is not played on the radio and it definitely isn't pop music like Nelly is. Nelly is a good rapper but please do not label him "hip hop" because his music is text book rap music. I also have to agree that Lil' Wayne is horrible. I can't stand him or any other rapper who blew up after the year 2000. Eminem is a lyrical genius and I look forward to the day he goes back to showcasing his genius because his last 2 albums were garbage. Rap nowadays is garbage but it is definitely a form of music and takes loads of talent to even be successful, let alone a good rapper, meaning I know many great rappers, but they are not successful. It takes more than talent to be successful at rap and sometimes you can have no talent and be successful at rap, thus the origins of this thread. The best days of rap/hip hop began in the late 80's, early 90's, peaked in the mid 90's and died when the "shiny suit era began when Puffy, P.Diddy, or Diddy began rapping and wearing shiny suits in videos all the time. To the true hip hop head or those who like rap, hip hop is dead as NaS says and it died after The Notorius B.I.G. was assassinated. Hip hop still hasn't recovered from the loss of Pac and B.I.G. Individually, Jay-Z is the greatest LIVING rapper and quite possibly the greatest ever. I could go on and on about hip hop/ rap. I loved the thread.
May 7, 200818 yr Don't hate on Ramel. How is Nelly on that list he was the hottest thing of his time, which was longer than most if not all on that list. Also Mike Jones wasn't bad. K-Fed should be number one at least some people liked Vanilla Ice.

Lil Wayne may go down as one of the best of all time just because of the impact he has had on todays generation and the impact he has had on rap music in general. Lil Wayne released over 100 songs last year.
