I can understand catchy beats... You hear them on the radio all the time, but the song is horrible or stupid! I understand that ...

 

It actually makes me "cringe" when I really listen to the lyrics/meanings of this type of music, wether it be rap, rock or country. I am just not hating on rap, a lot can be said for some other "artists/perfromers" as well.

 

Oh yeah for sure. I think someone already mentioned this but the Insane Clown Posse is ridiculous. I'm embarassed to even listen to half of their stuff around people.

I have no use for them either. But ya know I guess it takes growing up and becoming an adult and parent to find out what good/bad music is...

I would agree with that. As you get older and more mature and start thinking about your children you probably don't like that kind of music as much.

At least he's not afraid to speak his mind. He's influential to many people not just white suburban teenagers. Maybe he doesn't give to charity, but how many rappers really do? In my opinion he's the best, but not by a huge margin.

 

Actually Lil Wayne recently started a New Orleans based charity called the "One Family Foundation." The charity is out there to help restore athletic fields and complexs for schools throughout the Katrina affected area.

Lil Wayne is my favorite rapper right along with Eminem. Wayne's CD is supposed to be released on June 10. I've already got most of the songs from the CD downloaded but there's just something I like about having the actual CD so I will be one of the first in line to get it.

I like some of Lil' Wayne's stuff, but no way could he be considered the greatest ever. I cant even consider putting him up there with 2pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Snoop, etc.

 

I never said he was the greatest rapper ever I simply stated of this era of rappers he is defintely up there. Plus all of the rappers you mentioned rapped about completely different things. It's a different kind of rap, but I agree most of his raps don't mean much except making money and getting girls. But what other rapper doesn't mention that? I think why I like him so much is because of the way he delivers his raps, and his puns, he's a lyrical master. The only rappers that rap about meaningful things in this era consistently are Kanye, Jay-Z, and eminem. 50 used to but not anymore.

Lil' Wayne is not even close to the best. Not much of what he ever says is important, meaningful, or relevant to anything. What has he done to prove that he is "the best?"

That to me was all meaningful stuff beside, In Da Club, and another song I can't think of the name at the moment.

IMO 50 Cent isn't that good. I was glad to see Kanye blow him out of the water when their albums came out!

Most music majors will tell you that it is NOT music. That it is just good for guys with big subs in their vehicles.

 

Why is it up to them what is music or not. Even if they major in it. It has to be music if Billions of people are into it.

When you make a statement like that it show YOU have no idea what you are talking about. Take a step back and listen to some classic artist. They rapp about thing on their minds not what your record label wants you to sell. He is NOT one of the greatest rappers of his time.

 

Some of weezy's stuff is good, but NWA, tupac,biggie, and even public enemy. That is the stuff that meant something. It had messages and GREAT lyrics. But I still like people like t-pain, 50(much better than Wayne), and chip the ripper.

I have begun to absolutely hate rap lately.

 

I still enjoy listening to Eminem and some 50 Cent/Lloyd Banks/G-Unit stuff. Dr.Dre is pretty good too, but he doesn't release a lot of stuff anymore. Most other rap is just plain crap.
