May 10, 200818 yr IMO Lil Wayne is a lyrical genius. He was recently voted Best MC by the Rolling Stones. Lil Wayne may go down as one of the best of all time just because of the impact he has had on todays generation and the impact he has had on rap music in general. Lil Wayne released over 100 songs last year. Behind Eminem, I'd agree.

You sound like my great grandpa. How old are you? Also, I'd have to agree that Lil Wayne is lyrical genius. No I don't understand what he is saying most of the time, I have tried to listen, and I have heard my teenagers and their friends refer to "stuff" with whatever the new lines are they use. I have tried sorting it out but it was hard for me to understand when ever other word is MFer.

Sometimes the things he says are just stupid, but the way he delivers it is what makes people like it. He will, however, never come close to the kind of material Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, and Nas have produced. Lil' Wayne also releases so many songs because he uses other Rapper's beats in mixtapes and rhymes over them. Then he uses the same verses/lines in multiple songs.

I remember listening to a CD one year on the way to South Carolina... And to me most of his stuff sounded the same. I also thought it was to "foul" for young kids (even for myself) to be listening too. It's lyrics were filled with filthy sexual content. Pretty absurd, was my thinking. I made them take it out due to young kids in the vehicle. I think the younger generation of kids thinks he's really cool, and I am sure that has a lot to do with it. I know of some guys my age and little older that do not like the new rap music, they say after Tupac, the newer stuff isn't any good.

But I will add to that there is some really dumb country music too. It is not country music at all. It needs to be moved to another category, like dumb music labeled country/western. The sound of country music has changed too.

Music Theory does not consider rap, music. It is repetive with deep bass to make your subs thump. A music theory major will argue that point any day and any time. Most young teenagers young adults like Lil Wayne. But after that I'd say his following dwindles. He will not be a famous rapper for a long length of time. You will see him on VH1 in about 10 years for music of the mid 2000s.
May 14, 200818 yr Lil Wayne is terrible. Wow one of the greatest rappers in his time, if not the best. When you make a statement like that it just shows you don't know what your talking about.He has alot of awards, money and fame to be terrible.
May 14, 200818 yr When you make a statement like that it show YOU have no idea what you are talking about. Take a step back and listen to some classic artist. They rapp about thing on their minds not what your record label wants you to sell. He is NOT one of the greatest rappers of his time.
