I agree. The way to beat Highlands is run the ball especially with a lead blocker, but the offense that CovCath runs will not beat Highlands. Jet sweeps and fullback gives against Highlands does not work. All you have to do is check out the playoff game from last year. Highlands is just to quick and fast.

I don't expect them to run last year's offense this year. Coach Brossart is a smart coach and I think he saw that what he did last year will not work. Highlands will be fast and quick again this year on D (maybe faster and quicker than last year to tell you the truth). Plus, with Tepe and the other returning O linemen getting even bigger, I think he'll change offensive schemes and pound the football and play keep away. Get Highlands D to overcommit to stop the run and then use play action passes to the tight end over the middle in the void created by the LBers overcommitting to stop the run. Its not rocket science.

Well spring ball looks good as of now. No serious injuries to report of. The best player during spring ball has been Will Deters. He has been absolutely phenomenal(sp?). He is gonna be very good this year.

 

There is an intrasquad scrimmage this Friday at 4 p.m. It is the CCH Blue & White Game.

Is this the end of their spring ball?

You have to come see senior receiver Ryan "Highlight Reel" Voet. He's absolutely unreal!!!! He wears practice uniform #44 so come out and watch the excitment. He has some of the coolest hands I've ever seen. He could catch a pig if you asked him to.

Are they still practicing? I would think their 3 week window would have closed a couple of weeks ago.

This year's staff has 2 former College coaches, a former High School HC, and Former Offensive and Defensive Cooridinators at the High school level. Those are just the additions to the staff.

 

I have are hard time believing they are doing anything but preparing/planning on competeing for a State tile in 2008. They have a solid nucleaus of returning players and have a team oriented approach in everything they do.

 

They may not have the level of skill position players that Mooney, Highlands, or Moeller have, but Covcath traditionally never has. They win by putting a good/Great Team on the field, not great players.

 

I think that if they stay healthy, it will be a toss up between them and Highlands. I think Highlands will again be very very good. They perhaps have enough potential to be better than the 2007 version, but an injury here or there, and I think there are enough new players that leave Highlands far from a 40 point winner in this year's game.

This team has better football players at almost every postion over last years team,except maybe at runnng back.

 

Deter's running behind that o-line will get 4-5 yards a carry.I talk to some football parents and coaches before a couple of baseball games during the week and they can not wait for the seaon to start.Bring up the o and d line to Coach Brossart and he get a big old smile. Next years team will competitive with every team they play.

I don't think CCH will go undefeated but I think they will be in the hunt for a title.

IMO, the starting QB is no where to be found on the field as of yet.

 

BTW you have heard, haven't you, that Clines is gone from CovCath as of July 1.

They have a lot of players on baseball.Two of there better players are actually baseball players( and one of the better players in NKY). I bet people from Highlands think that Cov Cath is going to be terrible this year based on what happened on Spring Ball.

I can't speak to their time across the river, but the two times Cov. Cath. beat Highlands in 2006 they had the better team and the better QB.
