They have a lot of players on baseball.Two of there better players are actually baseball players( and one of the better players in NKY). I bet people from Highlands think that Cov Cath is going to be terrible this year based on what happened on Spring Ball.

Those four are probaby going to see a lot of playing time and some incoming sophomore are going to see a lot of time to that are playing baseball

Well spring ball looks good as of now. No serious injuries to report of. The best player during spring ball has been Will Deters. He has been absolutely phenomenal(sp?). He is gonna be very good this year.

 

There is an intrasquad scrimmage this Friday at 4 p.m. It is the CCH Blue & White Game.

1st O & 2nd D vs. 1st D & 2nd O

It should be a fun game to watch, that is if it isn't raining as projected.

Oh BTW there is a man who resides, I believe on 12th street in Covington who received his job from a man in Rome, that just might disagree with you about the Superintendent job, and what he can, and can't do!

 

I will agree with you about the part that the teachers, department heads and students of CovCath are a cut above, and they have been that way for a long time, even before I ever attended school there.

 

BTW, the vast majoity of us who attended CovCath usually never refer to it as CCH. Far too many CCH's in the Commomwealth, but there is one and only one, CovCath.

The O-line an D-line will stack up against any in Ky. 90% of the games are won up front in the trenches.

 

You can question the "system" or the play calling, those are areas that are part of the fun of being a fan of Football at any level.

Just wait and see. The o-line went up against all those teams last year; and from what I understand, they didn't do bad. Let's see what those small, quick defensive linemen do when a line averaging 6'3 255 runs up the middle, with Deters right behind them. In the spring game the o-line looked quick and moved as a unit. They were getting downfield on screens and sweeps way better then last year.

And just for a STAT when covcath played LaSalle last year the OLINE didnt give up one sack. FYI

HAHA why do you think CovCath loses to HHS year-in and year-out, think hard, its not the athletes, there have been plenty of years in which CovCath had the man power to outmatch HHS and lost and lost badly...if you look at HHS offensive line, they are good athletically yes, however, they are, without a doubt the best position group on any team in NKY almost every single year, they are beyond disciplined...They grow up playing together, running HHS's system, CovCath kids are strung out from around NKY...CovCath's team is not as disciplined as HHS or CovCath teams in the past...it is easy to see that the coaching staff, god help them, is awful...For God sake man, the coaches didnt even know that the players go to mass before each game last year...this is mind boggling

 

And as for your claim about CovCath's "trenches" on the offensive side...If you honestly think that Schadler and Tepe (the biggest on their O-Line) can stack up athletically or otherwise with any in the area you will be in for a big suprise when La Salle and HHS linebackers and DE's are racking in sacks like hot cakes come next fall

Let's put spring drills in perspective... Spring football is full intrasquad scrimmages. People can get as excited or down about the results of the spring practice as they would like, but the truth is the CovCath OLine could be really good or the defense could be really bad. No one will truly know until they play another opponent.

 

Same with the people talking about how Highlands will repeat based on spring drills. Maybe they will or maybe they are not as deep as last year which causes the #1's to look that much better versus the #2's.

 

Spring football gives fans and coaches a chance to to get excited about certain kids and newcomers that may perform better than expected, but it is not a good measuring stick to see how good a team is really going to be.

Let's see...Coach Brossert stinks, Coach Listerman stinks, Mr. Clines stinks, the assistant basketball coaches stink, the assistant football coaches stink, etc., etc. For all of this mediocrity there are alot of banners, tropheys and national merit award certificates on display in Park Hills. Let me be the one to open up on Mr. Kaelin. I have it on good authority that he keeps the scorebook using a #3pencil. Hardly the work of a professional. We must get rid of him immediately.

The game turned out about as good as you could up for. The offense was much further along than last year. Deters ran hard and showed more quickness than I realized he had. The defense started slowly but rebounded in the 2nd quarter and showed why the d-line will give fits to many opponents next year.

 

The passing game was average at best, but it's obvious that the pass offense for spring was very basic. A couple of the recievers showed that they have good hands, but there wasn't much of a vertical passing game to determine if they have the wheels to extend the defense.

 

I was impressed how well the o-line moved, they are obviously big, but they moved extremley well on the traps and pulls.

 

The 2nd's were surprisingly talented. The 2nd O definitley had the faster atheletes, but the D showed great hustle and a willingness to hit.

 

A final note the kicker, who ever he is, has a very strong leg. They finished the scrimmage with a 35 yard field goal, which would have been good from 50!

 

All in all I think it was a great day for CovCath. The weather was great, the team played as well as can be expected. To my knowledge no one was injured and kids seemed to relish the chance to compete and get better.

 

If they continue to work hard and hit the weights, I think it will be a very good season for the Colonels
