March 31, 200818 yr Haven't the reds won like the last 3 or so opening days? Maybe it's a good omen they dropped the first one. Thinking positive. W in 07, L in 06.
April 1, 200818 yr Bad news from GAPB today: The Reds can't sell beer for the rest of the season... THEY LOST THEIR OPENER
April 1, 200818 yr Dusty hitting Patterson in the leadoff spot ... nice to see the old guy hasn't changed a bit.

April 1, 200818 yr It was mentioned on the broadcast that he had to make some great catches, cause he was getting a poor read on the ball. Course I don't think that, maybe he might become the opposite of Adam Dunn. Great fielder, but nadda at the plate.

Great fielder, but nadda at the plate. They were talking about outfielders in general when they said that. I don't remember the outfielder they were quoting, but Chris and George had said that this outfielder had jokingly said that "Outfieilders that have to dive, only dive because they get a poor jump on the ball."

I was listening to the radio broadcast the whole time, I just couldn't sit through El Grande and El Crappo. BUT Brantley mentioned on the radio that it looked like Patterson was having a difficult time reading the ball at times. I will cut him some slack since he hasn't been at GABP that often, we shall see how this develops as the season goes on. No question he has talent and potential, but as he showed yesterday, he can be VERY frustrating to watch at times. Thanks to MLB.com for these stats to look over:

Cubs fans have seen it all before, and it doesn't end well.
April 1, 200818 yr Cubs fans have seen it all before, and it doesn't end well. Truer words have never been spoken...
