March 20, 200818 yr I don't buy this argument, I don't suffer from white guilt like many do either though. EVERYONE can make something better of themselves if they want to and the color of your skin has zero to do with it. There are plenty of black people that make a lot more than I do, and I say good for them. They worked hard and earned it. So, job for job, you feel there's complete equity among the races in pay and opportunity for advancement throughout corporate America?
March 20, 200818 yr So, job for job, you feel there's complete equity among the races in pay and opportunity for advancement throughout corporate America?Except in Hollywood. :irked: "Curse you, Denzel Washington!"
March 20, 200818 yr So, job for job, you feel there's complete equity among the races in pay and opportunity for advancement throughout corporate America? There are first generation African immigrants who arrived on our shores nearly penniless who have become very wealthy. There are former Vietnamese boat people who arrived here without knowing our language who have started businesses and become multi-millionaires. Oprah Winfrey has become a billionaire in this nation, despite having ancestors who were slaves. People like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Jeremiah Wright who prosper by persuading black Americans that they have no chance to succeed in this country because of the color of their skin do far more damage to society than the white racists in this country. Obama should have been spreading his message of hope during the past 20 years instead of allowing himself to be mentored by a race baiter like Jeremiah Wright.

With regard to Reverend Wright, any attempt to defend his statements is in my opinion doomed. His statements cannot be defended. There is zero evidence that Senator Obama shares these views. In fact, evrything he has said and done indicates that he does not share these views. Should he have dropped the Reverend? Probably. But gosh, I even have friends that are conservative Republicans that I haven't dropped.
March 20, 200818 yr Author So, job for job, you feel there's complete equity among the races in pay and opportunity for advancement throughout corporate America?Hey, sometimes others advance because they're black or female. So what? America is the land of opportunity. Look at Oprah. Look at Barack Hussein Obama or his wife.

I certainly think any black man or woman can be whatever they want to be and as successful as they want to be.
March 20, 200818 yr Hey, sometimes others advance because they're black or female. So what? America is the land of opportunity. Look at Oprah. Look at Barack Hussein Obama or his wife. Frankly, given your well-documented posts on your opinion of each of your examples, I say that you still hold them in disdain. You're suspicious of every move they make, every word they speak. I don't feel your examples are good ones, considering the lack of respect you have for each.

March 20, 200818 yr Yeah, I don't like them because they're black. You have got to be kidding me. I don't think she's saying that. I hope not, anyway.
March 20, 200818 yr Author I don't think she's saying that. I hope not, anyway. Sure sounds that way.
March 20, 200818 yr Yeah, I don't like them because they're black. You have got to be kidding me. Hey, I'm not here to say why you don't like them. But, you chose to use examples of successful blacks that you have posted many time in disdain of, and completely relayed your lack of respect for them. Why you don't like them is most likely because they hold views that don't mirror yours. Why they hold the views they do, is most likely because of the lives they've led. What I really don't get is why you are so dismissive of their views.

There are people of all colors who have made a lot more money than I have and I don't feel bad of them because of that. If you are willing to make something of yourself then you will do it. If you just sit there and blame the color of your skin for you not making something of yourself, then shame on you. I think the part that I am having a hard time understanding is how you can go to a church and not have heard what your preacher said. If he says that he wasn't there at the times his preacher was spewing all this garbage out of his mouth then I believe him. But I have never missed hearing something my priest said without having someone repeat it to me. And if you did hear about it later and still stayed with that church and still say that that preacher was your mentor, then I have a hard time understanding your judgement and I don't want you as my president. Some of the things that this man said is just plain out and out scary. How can anyone, who says they believe in God, stand there and say such nasty things is beyond me. And if you sit there and listen or be told what he said and still stay in that church is telling me that you agree with him. Would I leave a church if I heard this? Yes I would. I left a church for far less than this. If I had been sitting there and started hearing this garbage I would have got up and left. I am just sorry that Obama didn't.

I feel that way about Rush Limbaugh too, so what. What views are you speaking of specifically? I brought up Barack Hussein Obama and his wife because of the lovely statement she made about being proud to be an American for the first time. That and this thread is about Obama.
