Barack Hussein Obama Was At 'Hate U.S.' Sermon

Featured Replies

Yes, zero. To say otherwise is nothing but enabling IMO. I certainly think any black man or woman can be whatever they want to be and as successful as they want to be.
Race IN AND OF ITSELF has very little to do with your chances of success in America at this point- still not zero, because racism exists. I see it. I hear it. Some doors are closed because of race, but by and large there are enough alternate opportunities, different avenues to the same goals.

But if you look at where the average black child starts and the average white child starts, and you can say, 'Nope, no bearing on eventual success,' that's willful ignorance of reality.

Hey, I'm not here to say why you don't like them. But, you chose to use examples of successful blacks that you have posted many time in disdain of, and completely relayed your lack of respect for them. Why you don't like them is most likely because they hold views that don't mirror yours. Why they hold the views they do, is most likely because of the lives they've led. What I really don't get is why you are so dismissive of their views.
Maybe RTS named liberal black Americans as examples of success stories because of his audience. There seems to be a near media blackout of conservative black success stories, such as those of Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, JusticeThomas, Condi Rice, and Larry Elder, just to name a few.

There are also many less well known liberal blacks who have been successful but who have refused to engage in the racist rhetoric that Obama's mentor has chosen to use (e.g., Clarence Page and Juan Williams). It seems that blacks who do not fit the liberal media stereotype do not garner as much media attention as the hate mongers do.

People like Jeremiah Wright thrive by creating what Larry Elder calls victocrats (and the "vict" is not short for "victory"). This is the main reason that I believe that the first black American elected president will be a Republican and not a Democrat. Obama is too far out of the political mainstream to be elected president and this Wright controversy will only draw more attention to his left wing ideology.

I agree. However, the chances of black children succeeding are not improved by telling them every day of their lives that they cannot succeed because they are black - and that is the message being delivered by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his ilk.

I didn't hear him say they can't succeed. I heard him say that they won't be President. There's a difference. Being President requires the majority of the voting public to select you.

The new Governor of NY will be only the third black governor since Reconstruction. There are no black Republican Senators, House Reps, or Governors. I think there's a Lt Gov, though. The Democratic African Americans who are elected to federal government come from heavily black districts, mostly gerrymandered to reduce their electoral influence. And the way that the EC gives greater proportional voting power to smaller, more rural, and mostly white states, I'd say that's another hurdle to be jumped.

Considering the track record and the current state of affairs, can you blame Wright for being a little pessimistic on the chances of white America putting a black man in the White House?

Good points. We've only had 1 Catholic, 1 bachelor as President. A black man or a white woman has a huge uphill battle trying to get elected. My mom is an Obama supporter and a yellow dog Democrat but is iffy about Clinton b/c she doesn't think that is a woman's place.

Rev. Wright has no where said that Africans are superior to Europeans. What he has said is that this country has a history of racism.

BTW why is 1 gram of crack cocaine just as serious as 100 grams of powdered cocaine?

Have you ever seen Les Miserables? or read the book?

A racist coment by him. He's implying that whites won't vote for blacks. I would vote for Condaleeza Rice, J.C. Watts or Colin Powell as would many.

Yes, I can blame him for being pessimistic, he's doing nothing but holding blacks back.

He's claiming whites are racist though, not blacks. That in it's self is racist.

“We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college. Racism is alive and well."

"We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God."

"I don’t care what the rich white boys in the Senate say."

:thumb: Exactly. The election of a moderate or conservative black would put guys like Wright, Jackson, and Sharpton out of business. I would add Michael Steele to your list as black candidates that I look forward to supporting in the future.

Not it is not. Many whites are racist.

The judicial system has proven over and over the poor black men end up in prison more often than their white counterparts charged with same crime. this is one of the reasons that the "Death Penalty" was put on hold in many states b/c they found that it was disproportianately dished out to minorities.

that is the world he grew up in.

Me either most of the time.

Many whites are racist.
So are many blacks. Poor argument, racism comes in all colors.

Yeah right. Care to show me the stats on that?

That is the world he grew up in.
So, continue to breed hatred among the next generation? Brilliant!

I think I have said enough on this already, since I am the one that blew this open for the National Media!

You have now said that some blacks are racist. That is a statement of fact, it does not make you a racist because you said it, just like it does not make Rev. Wright a racist because he has talked about the history of racism in this country.
