Barack Hussein Obama Was At 'Hate U.S.' Sermon

If there is an area where crime is known to happen, fine patrol that area. That doesn't mean that every black or latino person should be treated as a criminal, which in some cases is exactly what happens. If white people were watched as closely as blacks and latino's then whites would be arrested just as much. That does not happen though.

As to the bolded part, what leads you to make that conclusion? And when you say some cases, do you think that is the prevalent attitude of police officers in America? And if so, why do you feel that way?

I actually believe that the majority of the police officers in America are good cops. I may be a police officer at some point, so I hope that the majority of police officers in America are good cops.

I just believe that there are still cases where police racially profile people unfairly, because of facts. There are reasons that minorities are over represented in prisons in America other than "they commit more crimes". White people just aren't arrested as much, for some reason.

Okay, if you believe that a majority of police officers are good cops (as I do), then how can the minority of police officers create the resulting high percentage of blacks in prison?

A thought...

After reading many, many posts on this thread, it is obvious that most people are 100% on one side or 100% on the other.

Maybe it is not that simple for Obama (and others, myself included). Does his relationship with Rev. Wright have to simply be a yes/no thing? Can there be good in a man that has said some very charged things? Does he have to distance himself from him just because of that?

I really, truly hurt because I don't see how we (posters here, Americans in general) can fix our problems by standing on two opposites sides of a road hurling stones at each other.

I believe it is possible that many areas where blacks and other minorities live are probably patrolled more frequently by police officers resulting in more arrests. The officers patrolling the area are probably supposed to be in that area. This does not mean that every officer assigned to that beat is going to profile but it does mean that if those areas are patrolled more that more arrests will likely occur.

I have often heard the statement that Obama would bridge the gap that you're speaking of. Could you tell us what concessions he would be making or even what compromise you personally would put on the table. So far, what I have seen is that if both sides are to meet, one will have to come completely across the bridge.

No we aren't.

However, I would think though that if I were in Obama's situation, and if I had attempted to make changes in a Chirst like fashion, that I would be mentioning those atempts at change now. It would be an excellent defense for those questioning his judgement in staying at this church for 20 years. And would have likely put the issue to rest early on. I just haven't heard anything like that from Sen. Obama. Do you see where I am coming from on this? I promise you I am not out to get the Senator on this topic. I just question his judgement on this issue.

02Ram, do you see where I am coming from on this? I can empathize with many of the posts you have made, I just wondered if you thought the same about mine above. I can also empathize with many Obama supporters who won't let this change their opinion of him. If the roles were switched, and this were McCain in the same situation, I would likely question his judgement, but it would not cause me to vote for Clinton or Obama. A third party candidate maybe but not either of the democrats in this election.

So you are saying that if some people don't make it out or make something of themselves, it's their own fault?

That my friend, is known as "Blaming the Victim".

No, that's making yourself a victim. If you want out, you can get out.

Lighten up Hatz---If I was a member of a church that began saying or teaching things that I was not in agreement with I would approach the pastor in a respectful fashion and ask for clarification so that I was sure I understood where he was coming from . . . if I didn't agree and if I sensed that most of the congregation felt the same way I would leave . . . I would find a church that aligned with what was scriptural and right. Now, keep in mind that if I attend a Baptist church I expect to here Baptist doctrine, a Methodist church---Methodist doctrine and so on. I would probably have done some research on this Trinity Church of Christ and had an idea of their theology before attending. I am sure Obama was completely aware of their stance before going for the first time. And to stay there 20 years without really knowing what was taught and believed is implausible at best and an out and out lie at worst. And by the way, there is such a thing as absolute truth . . . and these precepts are addressed in the Word of God . . . it is not just what feels good, or seems right to an individual.

Never said otherwise nor have I advocated as such.

I don't think you should post something so definitive unless you have EXPERIENCED it. Have you? Have you had to grow up in housing projects in bad city's with terrible schools?

Oh please. Don't give me that tired excuse, if someone wants out bad enough they can get out.

And what about sentencing disparities which lead to overrepresentation of blacks in the prison system both because they're more likely to get time for an offense and whites are more likely to receive probation, and the obvious reason: since African Americans get more time for the same crime, that means they're more likely to still be in jail when more are sent up.

But, no, RTS, you're right- it's just because they break the law more.

Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and eight times more likely to commit robbery.

When blacks commit crimes of violence, they are nearly three times more likely than non-blacks to use a gun, and more than twice as likely to use a knife.

The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic.

Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving blacks and whites, blacks commit 85 percent and whites commit 15 percent.

Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. Forty-five percent of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only three percent of their victims are black.

Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.

Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes against whites than vice versa.

Parenting, or the lack there of for starters.

Generation after generation of being taught hatred from people like Jeremiah Wright.

Where does the bad parenting and teaching of hatred originate?
