March 21, 200818 yr Don't even bother, HB20... he'd rather sleep on it. :thumb: I used to be one of those who did not believe that things like this happened in our country. Sadly, it does. Some things have improved for minorities in America but there are still other things that need to be fixed.
March 21, 200818 yr The one where blacks and other minorities make less money than whites, for doing many of the same jobs, with the same or better qualifications. The one where blacks and whites commit the same amount of crimes, yet blacks are arrested, and convicted more often than whites. Not sure you can prove that to be happening. But you're welcome to try.

March 21, 200818 yr Not sure you can prove that to be happening. But you're welcome to try. I'll have to find it later. It's in a book I read for class.
March 21, 200818 yr And making silly excuses will never lead to solving the real root causes of the problems. No need for waiting. WASHINGTON — Black, Hispanic and white drivers are equally likely to be pulled over by police, but blacks and Hispanics are much more likely to be searched and arrested, a federal study found. Police were more likely to threaten or use force against blacks and Hispanics than against whites in any encounter, whether at a traffic stop or elsewhere, according to the Justice Department. LINK
March 21, 200818 yr The racial disparities showed up after that point: • Blacks (9.5 percent) and Hispanics (8.8 percent) were much more likely to be searched than whites (3.6 percent). There were slight but statistically insignificant declines compared with the 2002 report in the percentages of blacks and Hispanics searched. • Blacks (4.5 percent) were more than twice as likely as whites (2.1 percent) to be arrested. Hispanic drivers were arrested 3.1 percent of the time. Among all police-public contacts, force was used 1.6 percent of the time. But blacks (4.4 percent) and Hispanics (2.3 percent) were more likely than whites (1.2 percent) to be subjected to force or the threat of force. From that same article.
March 21, 200818 yr Could that be because 1 in 9 commit crimes? If you found the stats for blacks, I'm sure you can find the stats for whites. I'm sure he isn't, but does Barack Hussein Obama go to any of those churches? If the pastor in my church made statements like that, I wouldn't be going to church there anymore. Not in mine that I've seen, but I'm sure it is in some others. Then you need to change churches. Sadly, I'm afraid you're right. People like Jeremiah Wright do their best to keep it that way. I've seen this a lot from some of the many posts on this thread. WHY does the person need to CHANGE churches? That's sometimes the cowards way out. Sometimes it is much more beneficial to the kingdom of God to stay within a church and try to effect change in some Christ like fashion. Whether that is through one on one discourse and dialogue or just as a reminder that some of these old ideas (any racial stereotype whether from Anglo, African or Hispanic, et al) are not going to be readily accepted or laughed at anymore. For example, I have a couple of parishoners who tend to look jaded at other races. So whenever they make blanket stereotypes of someone because of race I tend to redirect it so they look like the idiot they are. They don't always see the point but others listening do. Running away is not always the answer and it's often too easy with faith issues to say, "I'll take my faith shopping elsewhere."
March 21, 200818 yr -- Blacks earn 10% to 26% less than whites with similar educational backgrounds. The median income for black male college graduates in 1987 (the latest figures available) lagged that of college-educated white men by 26% -- $26,550 vs. $35,701. Graduate school raises a black man's median earnings to $35,815, but that's still 15% less than the $42,063 of a white who attended grad school. LINK
March 21, 200818 yr In the United States, black drug users face a far greater chance of encountering the criminal justice system than white drug users. Sadly, in this area, justice is not blind." link
