March 20, 200818 yr And this little gem. "No black man will ever be considered for president, no matter how hard you run Jesse [Jackson] and no black woman can ever be considered for anything outside what she can give with her body.” Yeah, just social commentary. A commentary based on the fact that no black man has ever been elected President in 232 years of its history.
March 20, 200818 yr Author I don't know what your intent was but I had no problem until the AIDS virus comment. Even in that he was going somewhere with it. Look, you may not agree with his conclusions but there is some data out there concerning racism in this country and everything you mentioned sounds about like a pastor who gets up and says some of the things I've heard from White pulpits about misegination, same-sex marriage, abortion and so on. You're OK with “We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college. Racism is alive and well". What's OK with that?
March 20, 200818 yr Author A commentary based on the fact that no black man has ever been elected President in 232 years of its history. He didn't say never has, he said never will. BIG difference.
March 20, 200818 yr You're OK with “We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college. Racism is alive and well". What's OK with that? It's his perspective. It is a fact that historically more blacks have been given capital punishment per capita than whites. He looks at that data and draws a different conclusion than you or I. But there is data.
March 20, 200818 yr He didn't say never has, he said never will. BIG difference. Again, If I go 0-232 from the field, odds are I'm going to go 0 for whatever in the future if I see it as a glass half empty. :thumb:

March 20, 200818 yr From Wiki " Racism inherently starts with the assumption that there are taxonomic differences between different groups of people. Without this assumption, prejudices against different peoples would be catagorised as being prejudices related to national or regional origin, religion, occupation, social status or some other distinction."
March 20, 200818 yr I'm sorry, that looks like social commentary to me. Not racism. I agree. If this is the most incendiary stuff Wright said I think this will blow over for Obama.
March 20, 200818 yr Author I agree. If this is the most incendiary stuff Wright said I think this will blow over for Obama. Apparently it's causing more trouble than Barack Hussein Obama cares for. Obama's campaign has been plagued by controversial remarks made by his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama delivered a major speech on race Tuesday to try to move beyond the controversy. The initial indications are that the speech has not halted Clinton's gaining momentum, as she led by a similar margin in Tuesday night's polling as compared to Monday night's polling. John McCain may be benefiting in the short-term from the highly charged Democratic race. He holds a statistically significant lead over Obama, 47% to 43%, in registered voters' preferences for the general presidential election. That is the first time any of the candidates has held a statistically significant lead since Gallup Poll Daily tracking began reporting on the general election race last week. McCain's 48% to 45% advantage over Clinton is not statistically significant, but it is the first time he has had an edge over her in Gallup Poll Daily tracking.[/Quote]
March 20, 200818 yr Rev. Wright may have exaggerated in some of his commentary...but the core of his commentary is true. And, let's face it, the majority of both Congress and the Senate are rich white boys. He's right...the liklihood of a black man being elected president is slim. The liklihood of a woman being elected is slim. The liklihood of a black woman being elected is virtually non-existent. White America likes to believe that racism is behind them because the lives of White America have gone on as before, except that they now compete for jobs with Black America. But, White American Boys still make more than Black American Boys, and even White American Girls. Just because Black America can vote and sit anywhere on the bus doesn't mean that racism doesn't exist, that inequality isn't still prevelant. It's easy to be blind to it if you are a White American.

I don't buy this argument, I don't suffer from white guilt like many do either though. EVERYONE can make something better of themselves if they want to and the color of your skin has zero to do with it. There are plenty of black people that make a lot more than I do, and I say good for them. They worked hard and earned it.
March 20, 200818 yr Wright's an idiot and only hurts the cause of the Black community. The fact that he is Obama's spirtiual mentor is quite disturbing.
March 20, 200818 yr Author Wright's an idiot and only hurts the cause of the Black community. The fact that he is Obama's spirtiual mentor is quite disturbing.Without a doubt! :thumb:

The liklihood of a black woman being elected is virtually non-existent.Totally disagree on both. I would vote for a woman, black or white, and I would vote for a black man so long as I agree with their viewpoints.
