Run To State Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 The Obama campaign has told members of the press that Senator Obama was not in church on the day cited, July 22, because he had a speech he gave in Miami at 1:30 PM. Our writer, Jim Davis, says he attended several services at Senator Obama's church during the month of July, including July 22. The church holds services three times every Sunday at 7:30 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central time. While both the early morning and evening service allowed Sen. Obama to attend the service and still give a speech in Miami, Mr. Davis stands by his story that during one of the services he attended during the month of July, Senator Obama was present and sat through the sermon given by Rev. Wright as described in the story. Mr. Davis said Secret Service were also present in the church during Senator Obama's attendance. Mr. Davis' story was first published on Newsmax on August 9, 2007. Shortly before publication, Mr. Davis contacted the press office of Sen. Obama several times for comment about the Senator's attendance and Rev. Wright's comments during his sermon. The Senator's office declined to comment. Link I know, I know, some of you won't like the source. I'd still like to hear your opinion. True or false? What's your opinion? If I attended a sermon like that and did not distance myself from the church, I would be a racist in the eyes of everyone. My whole problem with this deal is if every time the word black was used it was replaced with white it would resemble a KKK speech. The double standard for racism is a pet-peeve of mine and this is it on the ultimate stage.

William Kristol also corrected his NY Times column. This kind of lack of fact checking should get someone in trouble. In this column, I cite a report that Sen. Obama had attended services at Trinity Church on July 22, 2007. The Obama campaign has provided information showing that Sen. Obama did not attend Trinity that day. I regret the error.

If I attended a sermon like that and did not distance myself from the church, I would be a racist in the eyes of everyone. My whole problem with this deal is if every time the word black was used it was replaced with white it would resemble a KKK speech. Rev Wright has been the same person saying the kind of things he is saying now for decades. Given Obama's close relationship with Rev. Wright, it's only a matter of time before there'll be irrefutable evidence that Obama was present when Wright made such statements. You simply can't have spent decades with Rev Wright and NOT hear such statements.

This is not about "faith," it is about a presidential candidate attending church services over a 20-year period where an anti-American racist pastor delivered sermons that would most Americans would find very offensive. 3. This has become an issue of credibility. Obama first denied very being present during any of Rev. Wright's racist, anti-American rants, but today admitted that he had been present during some of Rev. Wright's controversial remarks. Why did he lie?
