  1. That being said. Soundbytes will be taken out of context and his speech will be spun. It started as soon as the speech was finished. It's really starting to get annoying. It's upsetting that this is what politics has come to in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world.
  2. I really saw nothing wrong with his NAACP speech. I liked what he had to say actually. I think he had a good message.
  3. Search: Mr. Turner Simply hilarious.
  4. He's lying. They're all lying. What the average american doesn't understand is that these politicians will say whatever it is that they think will get them elected. I mean, you can't blame them it's s money, but these guy's are untrustable. Im a Obama supporter by far, and I realize that he is lying to. It's about being real.
  5. This may be the case. I originally meant to refer to the website as a great source for international news, which is a claim that is not disputed in the transcript.
  6. This article is about Aljazeera TV. He left because they did a story on poor people, and the plight of Chiapis farmers in Mexico. It seems like this is something that needs to be brought to the light and reported on. If you think about it, most around the world see the US as a bunch of rich sinners. They know nothing of the poverty and pain in the US, since the only news coming out is about Brittany or Lindsay. Also, this is not at all close to all of what Aljazeera has to offer.
  7. http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/55ABE840-AC30-41D2-BDC9-06BBE2A36665.htm Aljazeera english is something a friend told me about a while ago. I checked it out and I really liked it. It seems to have very little spin in any direction. I sugggest you check it out.
  8. http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html One last thing. See if you can actually find the pit bull. It may be harder than you think, there are around 23 different types of dog labeled "Pit bull type" and so your the numbers aren't as cut and dry as you think. Another factor is the fact that recentley pit bulls have become the popular "macho" dog to have for irresponsible owners which in turn drives the numbers up. German shepards were responsible for the most deaths in the 70's while Rottweilers led the way in the 90's. Alright. I'm really done now.
  9. Those that attacked humans were / are also killed by people who illegaly fight them. Dog's are products of training. It is not all about instincts and bred behavior with dog's. It's about that combined with training. Pit's were not bred to be killers, they were bred to be strong, and tenacious at whatever it is they are trained to do. That is why they make great police / search and rescue dogs. How do you explain the pit's that are classified as "losers" because they wont fight. Years of genetic modification by humans should have gotten rid of that right? I think I have said all that I can say on this. Anything more will be a waste of my time, because it is clear that I will not be able to change alot of people's mind on the issue and I would just be repeating myself. I know through personal appearances that it is foolish to paint an entire breed of dog with such a broad brush and I would hope that something like this would never be passed into law, because it would really do us no good at all.
  10. This same mindset is what make's some people think that all Muslims are terrorists, or that all black people are criminals, or that all white people are racist's. It's silly to me. Sorry for getting off subject.
  11. America's masct during WWII was a Pit Bull Pit Bulls make great police dog's. Helen Keller and her pet Pit Bull. :scared: The number one dog in the US customs is a Pit. America's first decorated war dog was a Pit named stubby during WWI. Bud, the first dog to travel across the US in an automobile was a Pit. His goggles are in the Smithsonian. The pit bull is the only breed of dog to grace the cover of Life magazine 3 times. Between 1963 and 2001 there have been 37 dog breeds responsible for 431 deaths in the US. Westie Irish Setter St. Bernard Newfoundland Brittany Spanial Pomeranian And Dauchsund's have all killed in this period. The Staffordshire bull terrior, which is a breed that is considered a "Pit bull type" and would be banned has killed none. Genetic aggression has to do with the strain of a particular dog, not the entire breed. In 1865, the Boston Terrier was brought over for the same reason as the Pit bull. To fight other dogs. It is a fact that training and socialization have more effect on a dogs personality than do genetics. The owner is the one who dictates what type of dog he / she will have. Tell me why I should not be able to have a Pit bull or any other type of dog if I am a responsible owner.
  12. We actually have a Pit hound boxer mix, but people assume he is a Pit because of his body type and his head.
  13. Watch this video, please. It say's essentially what I'm trying to say. Mind you, I bought into the media hype before we adopted our dog ( not knowing what breed he was ) from the pound. We wouldn't have gotten him if we had known what breed he was due to the way that these dog's have been painted. Our dog is the most affectionate loving dog I've ever had or seen. He play's ( supervised ofcourse ) with the kid's around the neighborhood and they all love him. He is obedient, loving and affectionate. Pit bulls will be the absolute best at what you want them to be. Unfortunatley that is why some choose to train them to fight. Just a bit of info. The first recipient of a face transplant was attacked by a.... Lab I for one did not know that. I garuntee if it had been a Pit I would have known.
  14. What about my choice to select the breed of dog that I want. There is risk with any breed of dog. Dog's have been domesticated though, and when trained properly can act as a loving companion and pet. If you don't raise a child properly there is a distinct chance that they will turn out to be MUCH more dangerous than a pitt bull. ie: Charles Mansen, Ted Bundy, Lee Malvo, Columbine shooter etc... It just doesn't make much sense to me to outlaw a breed because it is, like any other breed larger than 40-50 pounds, dangerous when not trained / socialized properly. What do you think about Dobermans, or Rottwielers, St. Bernards, Akita's, Bull Mastiffs, Bull dogs, Chows, Labs, Retrievers, Huskies, Great Danes? I've heard stories of all of these types of dogs becoming aggressive and killing, mauling, and maiming. Should we ban these types as well? What about Jack Russells, and Chiuauas ? They are pretty aggressive and could actually hurt a pretty small child. Cats can scratch and give you a pretty bad sore that could become infected. I don't even need to talk about the risks of having a Boa constricter or a Pyton as a pet. Where do you draw the line. All of these are animals and there are inherent risks to irresponsible owners. I have personally seen more aggression shown towards humans from a Chocolate lab than I have from Pitt bulls. Thats just my personal experience though. Do I think that Chocolate labs should be banned? No. I Just think that the responsibility should fall on the owner to properly socialize and train their dog at a young age to prevent these things from happening.
  15. That is not the dog from the little rascals. Here he is. and yes, he was a pitt bull. I know I know, scary vicious child maulers. Its all about how you raise them, and unfortunatly too many pitt bulls have fallen into the hands of people like Mike Vick who abuse them making them dangerous violent dogs. This has given the breed a bad name that it does not deserve.
  16. I hadn't seen the previous post. It's obvious that most people's opinion on the matter is not going to change. I would just like people to learn a little about something before the condemn it. We see it all over out society though. There is a difference between a bear, a wild animal that easily outweighs any adult male, and a dog, which is an animal that has been domesticated for who knows how many years. Before anyone says "they were bred to kill" I must say, NO that is not true. They (pitt bulls) were bred to be affectionate towards people, and aggressive towards animals. With a little training and socialization as a puppy that aggresion can be stemmed. Most "pitt bull" attacks you hear about aren't even acutally pitt bulls, they're usually some type of mixed breed, or in some cases its an entirely different breed of dog. Using the logic that people seem to be following we need to just get rid of all breeds of dog that are over 50 pounds as an adult.
  17. Did anyone read my post, or the link it contained?
  18. Not directed at anyone in particular, just at people in general.
  19. hmmm.. Pitt bulls, which are the dogs that most want banned, are not bred to be agressive killing machines, they are bred for loyalty and gameness. Dogs that are bred to fight are Trained to show an excelent attitude towards humans while being aggresive to other dogs. Pitt bulls are just like any other large breed of dog. If they aren't properly socialized or trained, they can become aggresive and dangerous. When tested by the the American Temperment Testing Society Pitt Bulls grade out at a "Pass" percentage 84.1 percent of the time. The average of all breeds being 81.5%. Pitt bull owners include: Jessica Alba Micheal J. Fox Alicia Silverstone Jessica Biel (3 of them) Cesar Milan, The Dog Whisperer has several that he uses as model dogs in to help him aid with rehabilitation of rescued dogs. Jon Stewart has 2 Oh and me. I have a Pitt Boxer Hound mix that we got from the humane society when he was a puppy. He has never shown aggresion towards anything, and he never would. That's the way we trained him. The dog form the little rascals was a Pitt bull. "By no means are these dogs people-haters or people-eaters. Their natural aggressive tendencies are toward other dogs and animals, not people. However if they are properly socialized they will not even be aggressive with them. These are truly quality companions for quality owners only! The American Pit Bull Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, it is always eager to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of vitality" http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanpitbull.htm Please read this, and by all means read up on as many breeds as you would like. It just urks me that so many people make assumptions based on things that they've seen in there own small little world, then go on assuming that this is the way it is everywhere absolutley. Read up people.
  20. Dog's do have personalitys that are shaped by their owners, or the people who raise them. They can also have personality disorders. For example, we had a puppy a few years ago who was the sweetest most loving little puppy you could imagine. Every once in a while he would just go berserk though, and we had no clue why. When we asked the vet he told us that the pup was probably bi-polar, and that there was really nothing we could do. We had to get rid of the puppy before he got big enough to actually hurt someone during one of his outbursts. It was sad, but it's what we had to do.
  21. Any type of dog, except for a select few breeds, is capable of attacking someone and hurting them. One type of dog is no more likely, by nature, to attack than another. Banning a specific breed of dog is nonsense to me. The problem is the owners. The owners are the ones who are raising / training the dog's in most cases. If you raise / train, or lack of train, a hatefull dog it will hate. If you raise / train a loving dog it will love.

  23. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23986213/ DETROIT - A 3-year-old girl found a gun in a bedroom of her home and shot herself in the head Sunday, police said. One of the girl's parents apparently owned the gun, and at least one parent was home when she shot herself Sunday afternoon. Police questioned the parents and took the gun, the Detroit Free Press reported. The girl was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital, then transferred to Children's Hospital of Michigan. The Detroit News reported she was in critical condition. Disturbing.
  24. I think the runner should be allowed to stiff arm to the face as long as there is no grabbing of the facemask. That should be a penalty IMO.
  25. If you wanna talk about being overpaid, you've got pro athletes, politicians, and actors / singers / entertainers etc. that are grossly overpaid. It's crazy that people invest so much money in things that are really meaningless and trivial in the longrun. You would think that we would be all about attracting quality teachers considering that they literally have the future of the planet sitting listeneing attentivley to their every word for upwards of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. People wonder why ignorance is so prevelant. I believe the reason for it is the attitudes about teachers / education that have been expressed in this thread by some, and have unfortunatley been shared by too many people for too long.
