Newsmax, the epitome of journalistic integrity (sarcasm) has reported that Obama was at the sermon which is not true. I love the double standard that exists with conservatives. Criticize the USA and your anti-american, while at the values voters summit GOP candidates stood and smiled while a choir sang "Why should God bless America". I can vouch that in the 23 years I spend in a Southern Baptist church I heard my pastor(s) say things that I vehemently disagreed with. Did I leave the church or hate the pastor? No. I stayed b/c I was dedicated to the church and the ministry it provided to the community. Rev. Wright has given thousands of sermons in his career and these are the only three or four things we can find. I can find dozens of Falwell, Robertson, Hagee, Parsley and many other statements that they've made over many years that some could find just as offensive.

 

I'm not defending Rev. Wright. What he said was inappropriate and offensive, but I can firmly vouch that ministers of all races, creeds, colors and religions say things that sometimes the congregation doesn't agree with.

I'm sure that Rev. Wright was just having a bad day and would welcome us all to attend his servises !

I mean, obviously, understand that — understand that, you know, this is somebody who is like an uncle to me. He's somebody who helped me find Christ. And somebody who always talked to me in very powerful ways about relationship to God and our obligations to the poor.

 

If somebody makes a mistake, then obviously, you recognize — I make mistakes. We all make mistakes. If I thought that that was the repeated tenor of the church, then I wouldn't feel comfortable there.

 

But, frankly, that has not been my experience at Trinity United Church of Christ.

If you watched Obama's interview last night and his speech today, it is difficult to see how one cannot at least acknowledge that Obama was deliberately misleading. His use of the word "repeated" last night reminded me of Bill Clinton's twisted language and I expected that he chose that word to gain some wiggle room. However, I did not expect him to start wiggling so much less than a day later.

What about the Louis Farrakhan award, a man that has these quotes to his credit -

If I attended a sermon like that and did not distance myself from the church, I would be a racist in the eyes of everyone.

 

 

My whole problem with this deal is if every time the word black was used it was replaced with white it would resemble a KKK speech.

 

The double standard for racism is a pet-peeve of mine and this is it on the ultimate stage.
