March 18, 200818 yr Author By no means am I looking past Marq. because they are a worthy opponent and are the higher seed but I have seen Stanford mention along with us a few times on here and on t.v. What scares everybody about Stanford is no doubt the Lopez twins. If I remember back a few years ago Utah had a big guy that scared alot of people too. What happend there. We threw two 7 footer at him the whole game and they pretty much shut him down. Nobody thought Orbzut or Alleyne(sp?) could do it. I know 2 7 footer's on our roster right now that compares to them other two. Neither is as good as Orbzut but if that game does happend then I would not be surprised to see some action out of Carter and Williams. They wouldnt be asked to score, just play tough D and try to bang their big guys around. If they could cause Brooke problems getting looks and contested shot then UK will put themself in good situations. BTW Robin doesnt scare me much as an offensive threat. I know what I said is a long shot but it's a thought No chance Williams plays against anyone. Carter could see time against Stanford if we get that far though.
March 18, 200818 yr How long has Patterson been out? It seems a little early for him to be back, he's still in a big boot. Meeks might be a possibility, which would really help, but Patterson's not worth risking for an 18-12 11th seed when we can have him back at 100% next year.
March 18, 200818 yr Guess whose getting ready to seek a second opinion on his foot? Patterson to seek second opinion on broken ankle http://www.wkyt.com/sports/headlines/16786116.html
March 19, 200818 yr PLEASE, don't play either two. I'd rather get then back to full health. If they are cleared to play, then why not? I mean they would also have 4 to 5 months to rest up after this tournament as well. I see no problem with it, as long as they are cleared to play.
March 19, 200818 yr If cleared, I see nothing wrong with it. If a doctor thinks they can play, put them out there. If a doctor has any doubts, then NO!

Back in 1997 Derek Anderson was cleared by the doctors to play and Pitino would only let him shoot a technical free throw. He said he did not want to hurt his pro chances. Well guess what, he was still in college and should have been allowed to play. To this day, Derek says he wanted to play. Had he played, I'm pretty sure UK would have had 3 national championships in a row instead of 97 and 98. Even without him, Arizona barely squeeked by. My point is, if you are medically cleared to play, get out there and give it your best shot, if not, then wait until next year.

Patterson to seek second opinion on broken ankle http://www.wkyt.com/sports/headlines/16786116.html The way the explained it on the news last night is the second opinion was whether or not to have surgery or just try to rehabiliate the ankle after the season was over. I didn't get the idea that they were getting a second opinion to see if he could play on Thur. or not. I could be wrong but that's kinda how it was presented on the news.

I think Pitino did the smart thing by not playing Anderson. It was just two months earlier that he had torn his ACL. Regardless of medical clearance, that is awful soon to be coming back from an ACL injury and I think it was smart to sit him.

I always liked his smile and the way he went off on IU was my favorite game he played in. I have that on tape and watch it at least once a year. Yes things did turn out good for him.

Maybe I am wrong about this, but if someone gets medical clearance, that means they are completely better right? So if he is completely better, than what is the harm in playing him. That would mean the chances of him getting hurt then, would be the same as him getting hurt three years from then. Also he was also practicing with the team. So if he can practice with them, there is no reason why he shouldn't atleast get to play a little bit in the games.
