March 17, 200818 yr If the idea was to put all the Louisville schools on one side of the bracket (west, I assume), wouldn't the Lexington coaches be in favor of this? That would also result in a massively lopsided bracket numerically unless some schools west of Louisville were playing in the eastern bracket which makes no sense in my book.

I agree with you, there are virtually no 6A schools east of I-75 and south of Richmond.......I am just stating that from afar it seems the Lexington coaches could benefit from this. If this proposed alignment were in place the past three seasons, Henry Clay would most likely have been in 3 state title games.
March 17, 200818 yr I like the idea of coaches willing to stand up for what they feel is right irregardless of how some are going to negatively portray them. They probably knew full well that they were going to get ripped by the stance but they had the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what they felt was right. Great role models for their players to stand up for what is right no matter how much stuff is going to be said about you and heaped on you.:thumb: Important point here. Who says this stance is "Right?" You? That's just your opinion. Doesn't make it any more right than me saying you're wrong. It is perfectly fine for you and others to say these weasels are "standing up for what they believe in," but to say their position is "right" is, quite frankly, merely self serving. Nice try though. If you cannot see the clear benefits to some schools and the obvious attempt here to AGAIN dictate who the competition will be, then you're in the forest without seeing the trees.
March 17, 200818 yr I'm not following the reasoning behind this? What makes the Louisville publics and Lexington 6As immune to this?My personal view is that the Louisville schools may feel they will get some repercussions from signing the letter. Plus, putting Trinity and St. Xavier on the same side doesn't necessarily help them all that much. It's also my feeling, just from personal observation, that there is more anti-Trinity and anti-St. Xavier feelings coming from the rural schools.

I answered your question in my post you quoted. It seems your post indicates that they are not allowed to make a stance for what they feel is right since I said and I repeat WHAT THEY FEEL IS RIGHT? I guess that would include you are not allowed to take a stance on things that you feel are right, too??????

Then, I'm assuming you consider Coach Beatty and Coach Glaser to be fine role models for standing up for what they think is right and objecting to a split? For that matter, the rest of the coaches that did not sign the letter can also be considered great role models to their players as well?
March 17, 200818 yr Okay, for what it's worth did you read this post in the other thread? Again westsider is the most neutral party on this website where this stuff is concerned. I don't know either way but is it possible or practical to divide up the region by north/south instead of east/west?

For that matter, the rest of the coaches that did not sign the letter can also be considered great role models to their players as well? Absolutely. It goes both ways. I may or may not disagree with their stance but for a coach to stand up for their beliefs, knowing they are going to be villianified for it, is a role model stance, IMO. In today's society, we play the PC card too much and try to skirt around issues to not hurt anyone's feelings rather than do what is right.
March 17, 200818 yr How is it a problem? How about someone stepping up and keeping them out of the finals? No, no wait it's easier to write letters. If you took a poll of the state on this issue of every coach or parent of a player, how do you think the vote would turn out? I would also ask the same question about out of state attendance. Realistically, why should you have to beat the only two large class catholic schools located in the only major city in the state to win state? I don't think you should have to play all of the best teams out of our only large city, especially when it is centered around open enrollment throughout the area. One win can be accomplised against a greater recruiting area with higher numbers and better athletes, but it is difficult to have to overcome these odds two weeks in a row. Truthfully you shouldn't have to. In truth, why shouldn't these two private schools that are identical in practice, and in close proximity to one another, not in the same district?

This out of state thing really has you steamed doesn't it? Just for the record how many players do you think Trinity and X have on their teams from out of state? As for the rest, you have your opinion and I disagree but I really, really hope that Trinity gets a chance to line up against the Camels sometime in the near future.
March 17, 200818 yr Didn't CentreRocks indicate that this info could be obtained through an "open records request"? Maybe some enterprising soul would want to attempt this. But surely there must be an easier way. While they are doing the open records check, have them check to see who was present when they did the blind draw a couple years back.
March 17, 200818 yr I answered your question in my post you quoted. It seems your post indicates that they are not allowed to make a stance for what they feel is right since I said and I repeat WHAT THEY FEEL IS RIGHT? I guess that would include you are not allowed to take a stance on things that you feel are right, too?????? We can argue semantics all you want. The other sentence in your post states, and I quote "stand up for what is right." I'm pretty familiar with your position on this issue as are most regular readers. I think I got it right. And no, nowhere in my post do I allude to anyone not being able to speak out. That's grandstanding by you. I say speak your mind. Just do it without all the ridiculous claims of I'm right you're wrong and those are facts. They're NOT facts. They're opinions, and in this controversy a good perecentage of the people arguing have absolutely no idea what the facts are. I know you are not typically among that group so it surprised me to see you make such a statement. In the end. I find it incredibly distasteful that the very same people I read on here that claim the great thing about our state basketball tournament is that it is unclassed, unwatered down, all comers, yada, yada, yada are the very same people who cry foul about the prublic private, Xand T issues, Not you LBBC, but so many others. It is just so clear to me that people simply want a softer road to victory without making it appear that it is their own doing. I don't blame public schools per se, but I do have a sour taste for medium to large county systems that are doing most of the crying whilst they take pleasure in pummeling smaller schools year-in and year-out and hide behind the concept of "seeding" as if it were the panacea for all unfair competition. Seeding only makes a better case for classification as does this concept of "hiding" from X and/or T by pitting them against each other solely based on their previous successes. I know I've mixed in several issues but I see them all as indications of the "me first" attitude of some school districts. Sorry for the rants. LBBC you are a credit to your position and to public education. But it is okay if we disagree. That from a public school grad and staff member.

In today's society, we play the PC card too much and try to skirt around issues to not hurt anyone's feelings rather than do what is right. But what irks me, LBBC, is that you make a point to laud these 20 coaches as great role models because they are standing up for what they feel is right. Whether intentional or not, your post is an implication that those who did not sign the letter, and by default the coaches of X & T are not standing up for what is right. Not one time has anyone seriously considered the lengths that Dr. Mullen, in particular, has gone to in his presentation of alternate proposals in the separation proposal discussions. Not once has anyone lauded the proponents of the private schools for standing up for what they feel is right. In fact, the opposite is true. Those in favor of a split of any sort are the first to dismiss what the private schools propose as self-serving and some sort of veil to disguise some sort of devious plot to overthow KY football. If you wanted to be fair, I think you could have included your assertion that standing up for what one believes is laudable on the part of both sides of the debate. I know you post that you are trying to be fair and balanced, but I honestly think that you are deliberate in your intention to exclude any positive remarks about the private school's intentions.
