I can't even fathom starting my own list, I haven't seen but 4-5 of the teams play. However, I like this list from what I know. And I can't believe no one has commented on the bolded above, though I tee-totally, 100% agree with it.

 

What's wrong with the bolded?

Ridge Wilson, Vee Sansford, Russ Middleton, are the three best juniors in the sweet 16 and have all played against the states's best.

 

Jonathon Ferguson for Elliott Co. would have to be considered one of the top juniors in the state tournament.

Landon Slone is a little to high.

Middleton is and has been a key factor in the success of the Mason Co Team. He's cool and smart and is their best ball handler and passer. Key player and should be there. I can also say the same about Ethan Faulkner. He and his brother handles the press about as good as anyone that you will ever see.:ylsuper:

 

I do like Middleton and is becoming a nice player. He is starting to handle pressure well and protects the ball fairly well. But, I don't think he is the best passer on the team, as Darius Miller shares the ball pretty well also. I will also say Ryan Hamm coming off the bench takes care of the ball extremely well and can dribble out some clock.

 

 

I think Ethan King is a good ball player and often gets over looked because of Mason's three Miller, Setty and Middleton. King shoots 53% from the field and 72% from the charity stripe and averages 11 points per game. He is very long and is pretty athletic. He might not be the quickest player, but has great anticipation and quick hands. He also can take the ball to the basket and finish in traffic high and pass really well. He is a solid player and many teams play off of him and let him shoot from 15-17 feet and he can knock it down more than not.

I think the better question for this thread would be whoa re the best players from each team to watch. Too many good players with different styles of play in ky to really rank them 1-15.

Good Idea, For Holmes I would say...

1. Arrez Henderson- Top 5 senior in the state, explosive athlete, Plays great D, Good Shooter and can get to the rack almost whenever he wants.

2. Ricardo Johnson- He's about 6'4", long and athletic. He could be the best player in the state when he is a Senior. Good Shooter and Ball Handler for his size and should grow a couple more inches. He is a top D1 Prospect especially if he continues to develop. He kind of reminds me of a younger Darius Miller.

3. Elijah Pittman- Also only a sophomore and about 6'5". He is a very good 3 point shooter. Very long Athletic Kid, gets to the rim very easy due to his long stride. Looks like he could grow a few more inches, and should also be a top player in the state as a senior.

 

X-Factor- Jamel Riley- He could be the key to Holmes making a run at the state title. He is probably about 5'10" and is a very good ball handler. He shined in regionals and is an assassin from 3 point range. I think he is a junior , but he just now seems to be finding his comfort zone. He will most likely come off the bench for Braeon Avery who is a senior and the starting PG.

Its been my experience that the teams that are able to put the ball in the hole win the game. Jordan Smart puts the ball in the hole. Ergo, Lex Cath wins games.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the bolded. I just figured you'd have a lot of uproar in here about Setty being rated over Ferguson. Like I said, I agree that he should be.

I'll admit, I haven't seen all the pg's in the 16 play. But....I can't imagine more than 2, tops that have the ability, and more importantly will, to lead a team and play the game the way that Ethan does. He gets overshadowed by Ferguson, another fine player on their team. Bottom line is. If this kid was 6' 4" every college in the country would be on his doorstep!
