With Kim Warfield winning the region as a player and now as a coach at Conner High School, a thought came to my mind. Has there ever been a player win the 9th region and then be a head coach as a 9th region champion? I do not know this answer. Any suggestions?

I want to say Ron Dawn when he was the Coach of Newport Central Catholic, but I'm not 100% sure.

Dick Maile played for CovCath and then was Head Coach of NDA, and I am pretty sure that he won a regional championship for them, but I could be wrong.

 

Dan Tieman did this- played for CovCath in the 1820's and won region in 1992 as a coach.

I know it doesn't answer the question, but Willie Schlarman was pretty close (Highlands as player 82 and 83) and at Brossart as a coach - and they used to be Ninth Region, after all.

Coach T isn't quite that old. I think he played in the 1830's.

I believe he played on the same YMCA team as Dr. James Naismith! :lol: I would guess the early/mid sixties ?

Did Jaime Walz Ritchie accomplish this feat?

Ken Shields '60 and Dick Maile '61 ... I don't think they ever won as Covington Grant pretty much dominated for those years..I think..
