What's wrong with following the girls too?? The 9th Region final - Conner vs. Notre Dame - on ICN 6 was very entertaining (at least for 3 quarters until the Cougers ran away from the Pandas). And...Jamie Walz was a superstar for the ages.

Coach Darpel of NDA did both. She played for NDA in the Sweet Sixteen and then Coached NDA last year to the Sweet Sixteen.

Was Jimmy Pangallo on the bench in 2000 with Ron Dawn, if so I guess you can throw his name in the mix as coach who won Region as player and asst. coach.

Jimmy wasn't on that bench, but did coach most of those kids when they were younger in AAU.

Coach Faust made the sweet 16 twice I believe with NCC.

Then coached St. Henry to the Sweet 16 in 2003.

Yep, only team to produce 2 future coaches who took their respective teams to the Sweet 16 unless someone can correct me. Ron Dawn and Dave Faust with NCC and St. Henry. Gary Devoto has won numerous Catholic Grade school leagues and tourneys with his brother Paul over the years as a coach at St. Catherine. Not sure of the other guys on those teams but they did produce some excellent coaches and teachers of the game.

I'm just asking because I don't know, but did Kenny Shields ever win region as a player with CovCath? If so, then he can be tossed into the conversation. Anyone know what years he played? :confused:

No, has never won as a coach. Actually, has never been to the region finals as a coach.
