March 3, 200818 yr There will probably be a minimum of four SEC teams in the NCAA tourney, the top three being UT, Vandt & Miss. St. with the other spot is between UK, Arkansas & Florida. Some factors to consider: 1. UK is 10-4 in the conference while the other two are 8-6 2. Arkansas RPI is 38, UK's 52 & Florida's 60. 3. UK's srength of schedule is #10, Arkansas' #40 & UF's #105. 4. UF's overall record is 21-8, Arkansas' is 19-9 & UK's 16-11. 5. UK plays Florida(h) & South Carolina(a). 6. Arkansas plays OLe Miss(a) & Auburn(h). 7. Florida plays UT(h) & UK(a). UK needs to beat Florida, which should eliminate them from the #4 slot unless they make the finals of the SEC tourney. UK also needs Arkansas to lose one more game and to also not make it to the finals to jump above them by beating them head to head.

One other thing to consider is that UK is hot right now while Arkansas and Florida are not. Arkansas did get a big win over Vandy the other night, but they seem to struggly mightily on the road. They might lose to Ole Miss. Florida should definately lose to UT and hopefully UK.
March 3, 200818 yr Currently UK is the third to last (so #69) team out in Lunardi's Bracketology. Western Kentucky is the last team out.
March 3, 200818 yr Agreed. USC is going to be a hornets nest. SR night and Odom's last game at home. I don't see a loss in Bradley and Crawford's SR Day, so they will be in good shape if they beat USC... It will be interesting to see the line on this game. Plain and simple, we have to make somebody other than Downey beat us.

March 3, 200818 yr 14 of 28 games over 20 points. Ya think??? I think Van Gundy said this during the Laker game yesterday... "They should be in a box and 1 with the box on Kobe." I may call up BG and tell him about it.
March 3, 200818 yr It's going to be tough. The game Wednesday in Columbia will be Dave Odom's last home game, and Senior night for the Gamecocks. That's what scares me. People seem to not think this is a big deal, but to me it's a huge deal.
March 3, 200818 yr Author Currently UK is the third to last (so #69) team out in Lunardi's Bracketology. Western Kentucky is the last team out. Last week, they were even lower - they were in the next four out category. I think we have to take Florida's spot and its about as simple as that.

That is something that concerns me, because even as well as we have played lately. We still at this point wouldn't be in the tournament most likely. I mean Joe Lunardi is usually right on every time with his brackets. I think I heard something like he has only missed like 8 teams over the last 6 years or something like that. That is just crazy. So this just shows me that we still have a lot to prove to people to get in. So we have to win the last two regular season games IMO. If we don't we have to have a very good SEC tournament.

Hopefully we just win both games this week, and not have to worry about having to have a great run in the SEC tournament to make it.

March 3, 200818 yr If UK does go to the NIT, wouldn't they be a top seed? With that being said, I hope they make the NCAA's but if they did go to the NIT they would have agreat chance of winning. (Or at least they better)

(Or at least they better) NIT-ology (from February 25) has Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament. Here's a link to who they predict to be in the NIT...and CBI. By the way, I love the fact that there is an NIT-ology! I hate the fact that it's now "favorited" on my computer! http://tcaa.puretecmo.com/nit06.html
