First name that comes to mind from Bell Co. is Justin Boatright who played OT. He was a mountain of a man who had several schools inquire about him, only to find out he had no interest in going to college.

James Fletcher was a beast for Somerset in the early 80's

From the way back machine, I'll throw out a name that has bloodlines playing today. Bill Roller of HHS from late 60's. STILL the bar to which all linebackers are compared to for Highlands. Has a nephew making noise on this year's undefeated state championship team, Brandon. Brandon WILL go on to play at the next level...mark it down!

 

DMZ76, I agree with you about Bill Roller,(all Rollers for that matter) but lets be realistic here. One Mr. Marty Moore was and still is the measuring stick for HHS and the state of Kentucky for that matter. Truly a man among boys.:thumb:

Jason Skirvin was a talented running back out of Dayton in the mid 90's, he went to Georgetown and was unable to finish his career there because of medical reasons. Was a real shame to see that happen, could have been a very good player there.

Keith and Kevin Middleton from Garrard Co. They dominated through the mid- 80's.

Zach Fugeman from Boyd County. He played in the early 2000's. Had a lot of offers but I believe grades were an issue.

Josh Reynolds from Lynn Camp. 2 kids before he graduated high school. Reynolds had several d-1 offers....

 

Reynolds was a fine high school football player, but I don't know about several D-1 offers those don't come lightly. I don't know if he graduated high school.

How about Quenton Henson from Lynn Camp? Did he ever go anywhere? What happened to him. Dude was a beast coming out of the backfield, especially at the single A level.

 

IMO the best ever from LC, he would have been a beast out of the backfield at any level A or otherwise. Who knows what he could have done if he had gave it a shot!

One of the best players I played against that didn't go anywhere was Floyd Branham from Middlesboro. He was probably one of the best linebackers I have seen in Class A football.

Actually they were a pair of very good linebackers for the Lions from '78 to '80. They were tough as nails but the word dominate is not one I would use.

Bardstown had a running back in the early 90's named William Redd who was 6'1" 195 lb. and ran a no-foolin' 4.45 40-yard dash, benched 385 and had amazing leg strength. Ran for 1800+ yards as a junior. There was interest at the time from Notre Dame, among others. Lots of things got in his way, but he was Division I talent, for sure.
