Dental Insurance

Featured Replies

I'm looking into purchasing Family Dental Insurance. I have several times but everything seems to run today.

Looking for some advise on this matter:

1. good plans people are satisfied with

2. approximate costs & coverages.

any help would be beneficial!!

A few things I've noticed:

1) You're asking a bunch of Kentuckians about dental insurance...:creepy:

Now, you could say that I'm being stereotypical except for the fact that...

2) It's been almost an hour and a half and not one person has replied...

Go to Delta Dental.... Don't know their website just google it...:thumb:

I don't know much about cost, you would just need to call around. What I can advise you to do is double check how often you can get cleanings, x rays and so forth.

The terminology can get a tad confusing and since some dentists may require cleanings twice a year or more xrays more often, you insurance may not cover it.

That's my best advice.

***As for Sticky mentioning that no one had replied, well, some days are better than others. No one replied to my tango helping with parkinson's thread, but a demon frog eating baby dinosaurs takes off. Who knows.

I agree that Delta Dental is very good. But in Kentucky, they only work through employers.

We have anthem but it's thru work. I don't know if they offer individual plans. Our organization's plan runs about $100 per month for a family. Be very careful on what is covered. We've had good luck with it.

$100 per month for dental coverage only?? WOW!! That is expensive. I only pay a little over $100 for the year.

He obviously has a family dental plan for $100 per month in premium.

My suggestion to anyone looking into dental coverage is to fund the dental monies through a Health Savings Account. Dental insurance is not a great deal for most consumers.

$100 per year for family? That is really cheap! Who are you with as I'd like to forward it to our benefits department. I will say that we pay nothing for checkups, xrays, fillings etc. 50% of ortho up to $4000 is covered. 90% of root canals, caps, etc. It saved us a bundle over the last 3 years.

Individual policies typically have clauses to prevent you from being covered on major treatments for a year in most cases. There will also be a missing tooth clause that will prevent the insured from being covered to replace teeth that were missing when you purchases the policy. Good luck. On another note, I'd go with a well known carrier. You will have better luck finding a participating provider in your area. If the deal sounds too good,,,,you know the rest.

I'm with Kings Daughters Medical Center. My family medical insurance cost is around $950 per year.

Mine is a family plan as well, and as I said pay just a little over $100 for the year.

I just checked my totals for last year. I actually pay less than I thought for family dental. My cost last year for family dental was $77.48 while my family medical was $1139.84
