For Simon Kenton I would have to say the only win in playoff history would be the one. SK visited Boyd County as the 4 seed in '94 and won a fantastic game in OT, only to take a beat down in the 2nd round to eventual champion Covington Catholic. Finishing in 2nd for me would be the '98 win over CovCath, the only one of it's kind, CCH had a down season but that was SK's first win in over 25 years of play. The class of '99 started off slowly but they are really responsible for turning SK from a doormat to competitor.

Not sure if someone posted this but in my opinion, Trinity's 59-56 victory over Male in the state finals was arguebly Trinity's greatest win.

Excellent post Young Gun! I agree with you 100% about the 97' win and the comments about the 2006 team. I am also waiting for the first state championship victory in Ram history. I have a really good feeling about this years team. I cant think of a better way to end the season then enjoying a nice warm slice of Papa Johns Pizza right there in Louisville, watching the Orange and Black get the big trophy! Hopefully we can get Oldrambler, Cvillecat, UT Vol Fan, Ram, Statmaster, Blue Blazer, Yourself, and the whole BluegrassPreps crew down there for a little pre-game meal! GO RAMS!

I can't speak for all of these you listed but I can tell you that for me and couple of others that you listed here you had better be a very good cook for large, very large quantities of food or have hefty bank account to pick up the tab . I won't name names but myself and a couple of others here are All State - All American - World Class appetites and will have NO trouble in putting the grub away. That was a big win for Raceland. It is hard to rank the wins, but the Ashland game was big because we were in a series with them that they had dominated, they had won every game. They had just won a 3A State Championship in '90, and no one ever gave Raceland a chance in this game.

 

This game really set up the win over New Cath in '97, in my opinion. After the win over Ashland in '91, Raceland has now won, I believe six times over Ashland, has won some playoff games, and let everyone know that Raceland can compete against virtually any opponent. There are not many games that Raceland goes into, that the fans do not expect to at least be close. When someone in the crowd says, "We can not win this game", someone will pipe up and say, "I don't know, remember the '91 Ashland game".

 

But to be honest, the '91 Ashland game, the '97 New Cath Game, the '90 Pikeville game, and the 2006 Lexington Christian game, were all big wins.

 

I agree with you Ram. That game was an eye opener for future Ram players and was an example of what could be accomplished if everyone was willing to make the sacrifice and commit to the program.

Another game that helped change the program, though it was a loss, was the 1973 game against a very good Elkhorn City football team who beat us 3-0 and if my memory serves me correct went on to play for the State Championship but but lost to Paris. (and you think you feel old. :eek::lol:)

There have been so many with great story lines to match! But since I have to name one, I would have to go with the 2005 title game with St.X. To beat a undefeated #1 team that waxed us in the rival game and to come back and hold them to six points and win the title was Sweet 16 sweet!

For HC definately beating NCC for the first time. That was a great defensive game.

While the state final wins v. Pad. Tighlman in '80 & Boone in '94 were huge because we were the underdogs I have never personally witnessed a bigger Rock victory than the 2005 final, for the very reasons rocktopper mentioned above. :thumb:

Not that game. That game was played in super slop. They did however go deep on us the second play of the game after Coach Schneider had said, "They are going to try to go deep this first series." We didn't listen too well.

 

I now remember the conditions in that game. I know that like I said...that game was going to be the start of a part of that offense, the conditions hampered the game plan I believe. Randy (Vanderhoof) would be the one to say for sure. I feel that he would have thrown much more. No, the complete system certainly wasn't in and ready to go, but some of it was.

 

As far as you guys not listening too well , High school kids tend to do that at times :lol:. I know one thing, Coach Schneider was/is a great one - one of the best anywhere in the state and it would certainly be a good idiea for kids to listen to him. :thumb:

I am from Elkhorn City and I remember that game. We beat the the #1 team in the state a few weeks later, Lawrence County, 13-7, to advance to the state championship game, where, you are correct, we lost to Paris 21-12 to finish 13-1. We did win the state championship in 1964 against Russellville, 33-7.

Confirmed Brian Brohm and Trinity as a top level program on a national level.

The following year, Brohm is USA Today High School Offensive Player of the Year.

I'm going to say Campbellsville defeating Bardstown in 1997. It clinched the first district title since the 80s, and was the first time (correct me if I'm wrong) that a Campbellsville team defeated Bardstown since the 70s.

I would say Frankfort High's Senior Night of 2006-2007 season when The Panthers knocked off The #1 Danvielle Admirals by more than 2 touchdowns.

 

Highest scoring game would have to be when Frankfort High beat Bracken County 84-0.
