To be honest, I felt he would have been a great fit at Boyle not just for Boyle but for the area. Think about it.

In my opinion, whoever wants to take the Boyle County job should talk to Coach Pardue and get his honest opinion of the difficulty in keeping the monster happy (spoiled fan base?) after those 5 straight titles. I think some of the BC contingent are out of control with their expectations and this is going to be a problem going forward.

 

If I were looking at this job, that would be a major consideration.

Also lincoln's coaching staff only has two coaches teaching in the high school or even in the school district. The rest of the staff is made up of paraprofessionals. The numbers situation has been talked out since Jaggers left.So do you think French has lacked in getting more numbers out then?

I think kids priorities have changed in the last ten years or so. You don't see nearly as many kids playing 3 sports as we used to. Ten years ago you could do so without any problems. However, because of the demand that each sport puts out for the kids during the off season it's very difficult. Priority for the kids at Lincoln before French arrived was put into basketball. Things have started to change getting the likes of keeton, young, and kelly reed out for football in the last two years.

 

Getting kids out to play football isn't a job that relies solely on the head coach, it's a job for the coaching staff as a whole. When coaches only see the kids that come out for football it's difficult, these coaches have their own jobs to go to during the day and we are lucky that thier employers let them out at 3 so they can help us build a program. We have to rely on the kids to try and do most of the recruiting for our own athletes, the quality of kids that we get out is fantastic, but I would wish for that quality in hire volumes.

French was quoted in the paper saying "Boyle has expressed an interest in me, and I have expressed an interest in listening. When you get offered a job that pays you more, and that does a lot as an administration to help your program you would be silly not to listen.

 

If you work for Sony and Samsung calls you up willing to pay you around double what you are making would you not consider it? This is a profession just like any other profession. Even though both componies compete against each other I bet you'd be willing to listen to their offer. With that being said if you are happy with your current job you'd go back to your employer and tell him about the situation you have been offered, hoping that maybe they can come close to matching that offer. French has done this, when he was contacted by Campbellsville University with a job offer the 1st person he called was the Athletic Director. The same thing happened in this situation when Boyle contacted him with the possibility, he contacted the Athletic Director again.

 

He loves the support he gets from the community, he loves the people in the community, and he loves his players. So as far as happiness goes he is happy with those aspects, what he isn't happy with is the constant trouble for getting coaches, keeping coaches around, getting coaches in the school system. So as far as fans go he's not trying to slap anybody in the face, he has never and will never do so to anyone. In my opinion some of the administration need to stop sitting on their hands, and evaluate how we can get our support up there with the likes of those schools who have shown as much success as Lincoln has in the recent past.

Lincoln County has a paraprofessional coach who teaches in an adjoining county. He has twice been passed over for a job in LC. He is a Lincoln County alum and was a big part of the 1993 AAA Runnerup team.

 

This is wrong and stupid. Until this priority changes, there will always be a 4-5 year turnover of head coaches.

I hope that the fans of LC realize that French has put a lot into that program and really cares about the kids. I think that if LC administration steps up and gives him the help the PROGRAM deserves, he will stay. So if he doesn't stay, I think Lincoln fans and supporters should look at the administration, not blame or critisize French. This move is another way he is trying to build the program the right way. YOu can only turn chicken salad around so much.:thumb:

You are absolutely right. IMO this has to be one of the toughest jobs in the state. The pressure with the expectation has to be intense. I have always thought Coach Pardue did a great job there. It had to be rough following a "living legend".

This may be a stupid question, but to the Boyle Co. fans, what was the difference between Smith and Pardue? Smith seemed to lay a great foundation. What happened to that with Pardue?

Larry French is the roots of that coaching tree. Chuck worked for Larry and learned a lot about the Defense that took them to the carpet 6 straight years. Larry will be very close to the same thing as Chuck. Boyle will be fine with him. Lincoln is going to lose a great coach after a short time, thats ashame.

Everyone keeps talking about lack of admin. support, and French being disgruntled with the admin. I have to disagree with you all. Get the facts straight. Read the article. French is quoted as saying it isn't about money.

 

The analogy of looking at different jobs is apples and oranges here. All schools are regulated by the state on how much they are able to pay. Plus, if you worked for a place and decided to interview at another, you wouldn't air it in the local newspaper, without the local admin. knowing about the situation.

 

Coach French had done a great job. But, so did Coach Phillips and Coach Jaggers at LC. LC has won a regional championship with three different coaches. BC has done it with one. We had a program before he got here and we will have one "if" he leaves. LC has been to the state championship game with two different coaches.

 

Basically, I am saying this. I wish Coach French well on whatever he decides. I just want LC fans to realized this is Lincoln County, not French County.

1. I would think that Boyle could get just about anyone they wanted with the tradition and support that they have. They have shown that they are not afraid to go after the big names, so I would be careful if I were so of the big name schools with big name coaches.

 

2. I heard that they may go after a young and up coming coach too. If French does not take the job maybe one his former assistants would get it. I have Heard Clay Clevengers name mentioned, and he has College and HS experience, could end up getting a great young coach there.
