I think Chuck Smith would be endorsing David Buchanan. And maybe he did,:sssh: but the Boyle Admin has chosen to look elsewhere.

 

 

I'm sure his name has been brought up. As for who Chuck Smith might be "for" in this I can see him lining up with Frenchy as well. He worked under French at Mercer.

 

I actually thought French coming would be great but I never suspected he might be unhappy at Lincoln. That's why I never put him on my list.

I don't think many knew he was unhappy, it seems the issue of unhappiness (if he is unhappy) have been keep private.

I dont think it would be unhappiness as much as he feels it will be easier to win consitently over the next4-5 years at Boyle with the support they give the program. Anyone can say what they want, but Boyle supports their football program better. Football at Boyle doesn't play second fiddle to any other sport their like it does with the Lincoln administration.

I do not know alot about Lincoln County prior to French taking over. What kind of record and accomplishments did Phillips have?

Larry Phillips isn't coming back. He hasn't coached since 1990 and told me personally that the game has passed him by.

 

He is retired now from teaching and seems to be enjoying life in Oldham County.

I think it is just a case of maybe being happier at Boyle County if all the pieces come together. There are some issues at Lincoln County with Assistant's pay, middle school program control, etc.

Yeah listening is one thing, he is openly showing interest. How can LC trust or want someone who obviously doesn't want to be there.

 

French has not made a decision, but it sounds like theres a good chance he could be gone. So I dont think its to early to throw somes names around as to who would take over at Lincoln if he chooses to leave. Any thoughts?

It doesn't have to. That is my point. At schools like Danville and Boyle football is top dog. You get the rescourses you need to compete from the administration. It's not like that everywhere, and so as a"football coach" you want to be in those situations. It's no different than any other business decision.

I hope one of us does. It's time to bring that guy back home to Central KY.

 

To be honest, I felt he would have been a great fit at Boyle not just for Boyle but for the area. Think about it.

Lincoln - Larry French or above coach :lol:

Mercer - Jaggers

 

That's a lot of football savvy and great coaches in our area. It would only make all of the football programs stronger. :thumb:
