I wouldn't be to hard on French since he did revive the program and brought it back to life after being in football hell. With that being said, Larry says what he feels. He is not going to lie or shy from the truth. That is what makes Larry. But for you to bad mouth him after all he has done for Lincoln than you should be ashamed.

I have been a huge supporter of him since day one. He has shown disrespect to LC and the fan base by publicly showing his desire to go to Boyle County, our arch rival. He publicly admitted his interest in the job. If I were the A.D., I would tell him to go. He is not the only coach in the country, if he don't want to be in Lincoln, then move. It's that simple.

Lincoln County fans are starting a "Save Our Coach" drive. There will be an out-pouring of love shown to Coach French between now and his next meeting with Boyle County on Tuesday.

 

He may go but it will not be without some effort by the Lincoln County people to keep him.

I don't want to be a member of that drive, and have spoke with many people in the community that have the same feelings I have. Lincoln shouldn't have to beg him to stay, we should let him go on over to title town. If that's what he wants to do.

Lincoln County football boosters are talking about it right now (3 PM) on WPBK-FM 102.9.

 

I have received phones calls today on both sides. Some say, if he wants to go let him go. Others say, let's keep him here.

Read the Advocate Mess. There is an article in there talking about Lincoln County coach Larry French's desire to coach at Boyle and how is going to a second interview there. As a LC fan, I am very dissapointed and angry.

He has openly talked about how happy he is at LC, and now he is publicly commenting on how he is interested in this job.

Personally, the BC job is not as good as the LC job right now. LC has been better than them since Chuck Smith left. Honestly, the LC job has been better the BC job throughout the time, with the exception of the Chuck Smith era.

If French is flirting with the job, I would like to see him go ahead and take it. I don't want someone who doesn't want to be at LC, we will find someone who wants to be here.

I think French has put himself in bad spot, he is going to lose a lot of support even if he stays now. I can't believe he put it out there like this, that tells me he is gone.

Mr. Network will tell you that Boyle has had a very solid tradition in the past before Chuck Smith. It reached stratospheric proportions under Smith.

 

Boyle does not have to take a back seat to Lincoln's history except for a period brief period in the late 80's and early 90's. Ask any Patriot fan who there only regular season loss was to in '79 and I think '82 if not mistaken.

 

I wish nothing but the best for Lincoln's program but your knowledge of Boyle's is a little tilted.

I'm glad to see the Patriot backers get up and put there best foot forward to keep him.

 

That said, I would be very happy to have Larry French as the coach of My Boyle Rebels. I had thought of someone else at the top of my list but I am not disappointed at all if French comes to Boyle. (Afterall, my #1 choice ties back into him very nicely. )

Again, Mr. Network can do the long time stats better than I but you will find that Boyle was more than competitive on the field with Lincoln County and 2 district champions and 1 sub-district title between 1974 and 1983. (Also won the CKC twice in '79 and '82) It was a different era of football in playoff structure and football itself. Lincoln's talent and commitment level rose even higher by the end of the 80's and into the 90's while Boyle's lack of administration commitment and talent waned.

 

You pointed out that Boyle had never been to the state finals before Smith. Here's one about Danville football. They only went to one state final (1962) before Duffy took them in '84. So can we say that Danville football was nothing before Duffy?

 

Since I played in that era at Boyle I will be glad to run through glory days anytime if needed.

For Lincoln fans to mad mouth French I think is silly. If you want to keep French show him the love and more importantly have the administration show him the love. Don't make him beg and plead for everything. To me its a no brainer for coach French. He doesn't get the support he deserves from Lincoln (and I don't mean the fans).

It's a shame it had to come to this. I know that you feel the same Mr. Network. The only other thing I would think that he would think about would be does he have a better chance of winning at the state level in 4A as opposed to 5 A. I would have to say yes.

Coach French is a class act and has made Death Valley respected again.

 

I truly hope he stays, but could in no way have any ill will towards him if he decides to move to Boyle.

 

Time for the Lincoln Admin to step up!!!!
