1. I would think that Boyle could get just about anyone they wanted with the tradition and support that they have. They have shown that they are not afraid to go after the big names, so I would be careful if I were so of the big name schools with big name coaches.

 

2. I heard that they may go after a young and up coming coach too. If French does not take the job maybe one his former assistants would get it. I have Heard Clay Clevengers name mentioned, and he has College and HS experience, could end up getting a great young coach there.

I had a family member talk to French at church this morning, he said he was having a hard time and said it was going to be a hard decision.

Also, Lincolns football banquet is currently going on and some think he may announce something today.

The analogy of looking at different jobs is apples and oranges here. All schools are regulated by the state on how much they are able to pay. Plus, if you worked for a place and decided to interview at another, you wouldn't air it in the local newspaper, without the local admin. knowing about the situation.

 

Coach French had done a great job. But, so did Coach Phillips and Coach Jaggers at LC. LC has won a regional championship with three different coaches. BC has done it with one. We had a program before he got here and we will have one "if" he leaves. LC has been to the state championship game with two different coaches.

 

Basically, I am saying this. I wish Coach French well on whatever he decides. I just want LC fans to realized this is Lincoln County, not French County.

You are wrong. French met with Lincoln County officilas on Thursday. He told them what the program needs. It will be up to LC officials to do what is necessary to put the LC program on equal footing with top programs.

 

Don't put much faith in a newspaper article for your facts. When he talks about it not being about money, he is talking about his salary. It IS about money in other regards.

Iwas on Coach Phillips first team and he was a outstanding coach and role model,and coach Jaggers followed. I just dont want to see the program end up like it was before coach French showed up because he instilled tough and disilpline into Lincoln County football. If you go coach French, you will be missed.

Mr. Network is right Coach Phillips is long retired but Iwould like to know if French leaves who you thank should get the job.

The state does regulate how much each school can pay their coaches, however that doesn't apply to the situation at Lincoln County. French did take a pretty good pay cut to take on the challenge of rebuilding Lincoln's program, so I don't think that he cares too much about his salary, so maybe my analogy might not apply here.

 

If you read all of my previous post you would have seen that French did call the athletic director to notify him of what was discussed with Boyle officials. I assume you know about the chain of command with in school systems since you know about the state regulating coaches pay. But when a coach needs something or something comes up he contacts the athletic director, who then decides who else should be contacted. The athletic director has been made aware of the problems several times, and I know for a fact that he has passed on most of the information. Football isn't the only sport with these problems, 3 years ago the baseball team couldn't find anybody to coach the team at all because of the low pay, and the lack of assistant positions and pay. The offensive coordinator at the time took the job knowing very little about baseball, just because he didn't want to leave the kids in that situation. The next year only one person applied for the position.

 

These things that French is trying to fight for right now, if met will have benefits for all of the sports programs at Lincoln not just football.

 

I think most of Lincoln's fans remember what happpened to their team after their last highly regarded coach left, and I personally hope that, we won't have to see anymore seasons like that. I think most of them realize what French has done to revive this program, and appreciate that. If you know Coach French you would understand that he doesn't think this is French County and he has never been one to toot his own horn. When coaches inquire about a job one of the first questions that they ask is: how supportive is the administration of the program? If there is all this talk on here about the program needing more support from the admin. what do you think that next potential coach is thinking. He will be wondering, if the previous coach couldn't succeed at getting what the program needs how will I? That might scare some of the bigger named coaches. The Lincoln County school system will decide whether French stays or goes, hopefully he stays.

I think the Athletic program was heading in the right direction with Don Story(current girls basketball head coach) as AD, he was the one to get French. I think things would be different if he was AD,just my 2 cents worth.

No offense to Coach Morriss but if I were Boyle County and I were looking for an endorsement I would be listening to what Chuck Smith has to say.

I hope that the fans of LC realize that French has put a lot into that program and really cares about the kids. I think that if LC administration steps up and gives him the help the PROGRAM deserves, he will stay. So if he doesn't stay, I think Lincoln fans and supporters should look at the administration, not blame or critisize French. This move is another way he is trying to build the program the right way. YOu can only turn chicken salad around so much.:thumb:

Can't go wrong with Clevenger. And if Boyle grabs French, Lincoln Lincoln could go after him... However, it seems he has alot of young Talent at Henderson and hopes to turn them around in a year or 2.

I am aware of that but I don't think that works against him at this point, in fact it could work in his favor in a very left-handed way. He is a guy who would stay there for as long as they wanted him too.

As a PC Maroon fan, I think that French is one of the best coaches in the state, so I say, Let him go to Boyle!!! :thumb::thumb::banana::D:D
