danky325
were too In all seriousness, remember I have explained before, the paper was wrong, the writer added incidents up as individuals, coach rains mentioned that in his letter above. He added 2 incidents + 5 incidents + 5 incidents + 4 incidents (each incident referring to a different year) to arive at 16 individuals (incorrectly) but lets not rehash all this again, the other thread did that. This may be why the article was pulled from the Herald Leader website, but that is purely speculation on my part, as there were errors in the article. One thing that I am a little confused about if I'm hearing it right. Are they saying that they allowed kids to go to the school free or at a reduced rate to play sports?? If that is the case how in the world could the coaching staff not be aware of that?? I'm Just asking not assuming.
3wishes
I can not believe that. What a save your butt letter. This man should show his athletes the true lesson to be learned here, be responsable for your actions and move on. . First of all I don't think this was meant to be plastered on this site. From reading the letter it wasn't intended that way anyway. What good is a listserve for just coaches if everyone and their mom can get on there and copy/paste or reply and see what the coaches across the state are doing or talking about? Via 4th sentence down from the top...

PARISPRIDE
You are not sorry until you get caught. :thumb::thumb::thumb: Great post. None of this changes the facts about what is happening. "It's not what you say that matters... It's what you do that defines you." We've all made mistakes in coaching, teaching and in dealings with kids. But what is happening at LCA is inexcusable and hopefully with all the attention surrounding this sitaution the KHSAA will reconsider their ruling to create a level playing field for 4 hard working programs that share a district with LCA, not to mention the east and southeast regions in Class A. divadawg
I agree Parispride...equity among ALL PROGRAMS would be the best outcome from this situation. Unfortunately, I fear KHSAA will not use this as a means to a corrective end.
3ptshooter
Ask Simon Kenton's coach how classy Coach Rains is. Is it right for a head coach to attend another teams scrimmage and film that scrimmage and tell those people that you are a parent on so and so's team. Not in my opinion. Best is then the next week at the 50 yd line you stand there and shake hands w/the other head coach who just a week ago told you he was filming his kid. Now, it is hard for me to believe that the administration and the entire athletic staff was not aware of what type of funding was going on and to whom and from whom. This is a very small school and I am sure it is like Peyton Place, everyone knows everyone esle's business. Do the crime, do the time! LCA is lucky w/their punishment, if you can call it that. LCA got beat down by Hazard in week 10. Almost got beat by Raceland and Fairview. They got lucking by playing all home games during the playoffs this year. I'll be the first to tell you that LCA has good kids but Paris has been more athletic than LCA in the past. LCA had some really good sophmores and seniors this past year. The talent level will go up and down at this school. A big reason LCA made it so far this year is NKY going to the West and having a field goal kicker that made a kick in the final seconds. Raceland doesn't make any excuses for the playing field not being level, they just play there butts off.
letabrotherspeak
At least the guy faced the music. However, it does not change the fact a kid was given 10k for tuition and 7k for his personal discretion. If that is not an inducement, I do not know what is. I believe all LCA supporters can do plenty of that for the next year or so. We are big fans of Raceland and no one will sing their praises more than I do... simply because we know that they do it the right way. :ylsuper:
happy ol' dad
This is a prime example of the differences between private and public schools. At public schools you really dont have to worry about money but we all know that public schools recuit in some shape or form. I think that there has to be more to this story due to the fact that LCA didnt fight the accusations, they just paid there way out of trouble.... It would be stupid for LCA to fight the punishment because it would cost them more than what they have to pay and it may awaken the sleeping giant.
