Very good research Tiger1. This just shows why Henderson is better. Sounds like we have many HC fans on this site.

According to the KHSAA website you are wrong about no one being able to out shoot him.

Henderson ranks in the top 20 in the state at .609 overall field goal percentage. Sorrell is nowhere to be found in the top 20 and the lowest is .581.

Again, Sorrell is a fine player and is leading the NKY area in scoring at 23.8 points a game. But to say no one can out shoot him would be an inaccurrate statement.

I've got all the confidence in the world after being on BGP for so long that BOTH of you are smarter than the above. By your logic, Wilt Chamberlain was a better shooter than Jerry West. In 1967, Wilt shot about 60% while West shot about 46% from the field. So, Wilt's a better shooter????

I watched Arrez against CCH and he didn't attempt a shot from outside of 2 feet. Add in that he's very selective as to when he shoots and of course he's going to have a high %.

If we're talking purely shooting and the ability to score from the outside with a defender in your face, its no competition.

Arrez is outstanding at being strong in lots of areas - mainly defense. However, trying to compare the two is difficult at best due to the types of offensive games they have and what they're asked to do.

Like I said earlier. If I was picking a team from this list, a draft lets say. "With the first pick in the 2008 Blugrasspresps 9th Region Draft, the NKYBOY selects.......Arrez Henderson of Holmes High School."

I can see the makes of a thread out of this one...

Sorrell is a good player and is deserving off the positve talk but I'm curious to know his shooting % although he scores alot he takes alot of shots. Again I'm just curious and he is good!

See post number 43 and I think you'll find your answer. He doesn't miss very much.

 You really need to stop, your making yourself look worse and worse. Sorrell is a very good player, but Henderson is the best all around player in the 9th. BTW...How many did Sorrell drop on Holmes with Henderson on him most of the night?

Yeah, I guess I should shut up.

But, I'll choose to continue to play. Although, I understand I'm risking that I may make myself look worse, and even worse. I'll take my chances. :scared:

Other than lock up one particular player, with a lot of help from his teamates, what exactly does Henderson do better than Sorrell?

Shoot? Pass? Handle the ball? Rebound? Score? What does he do better again?

Don't feel the need to respond to this post, as I know you seem to pick and choose and this one my be a bit over your head. :thumb:

As would many .

You all have to remember that Sorrell is putting up these huge numbers (except for when Arrez is guarding him) as the only real scorer on his team. Every defense puts their best defender on him and the rest of the defense knows they will need to help. Arrez doesnt have to face that type of attention every game.

Personally, I couldn't agree more with the top 3. To me, it sounds like this Sorrell kid is "a big fish in a little pond", but I am basing that completely on what people have said on here. I continue to be extremely impressed with Henderson and McGraw. I have yet to see either of these players have a bad game because they are just too consistently dominant. Simpson is a great player, but he seems to force shots and panic occasionally. I also wanted to remind everyone that McGraw only plays EVERY OTHER GAME due to the poor condition of his back. Just think if he played all of the games... That would be an even greater sight to see. As far as Sorrell, from the stats that have been posted on here, I have to put him at #4 or possibly even #3.

Finally, I wanted to point out something that didn't make too much sense to me. I don't understand how you can say Sorrell is a better player than Henderson, if he was held to 6 points against him. That just doesn't add up too well.

Then you lose all credibility in the arguement. :madman:

If you're going to choose to rank the kids, at least base it on your OWN observations.

How's Sorrell a big fish in a little pond? Holy Cross has played a FAR, FAR tougher schedule than Highlands to date, and Sorrell about doubles McGraw's output, as well as Simpson's. Holmes has played a very good schedule, but Henderson's numbers aren't close to Sorrell's.

So, Sorrell puts up by far the best numbers in the region, against a MUCH tougher schedule than Highlands, and he's the big fish in the little pond? Oh, and he plays every night as well. That does account for something, no quit in the kid at all.:banana:

These are the facts, and I hope it helps educate you, in case you choose to consider posting in this thread, based on what you "heard". ;)

Holmes has played a very good schedule, but Henderson's numbers aren't close to Sorrell's.

Hello...It's because Henderson has a much better supporting cast than Sorrell. If Henderson had to, he could put up 25 a night, but he doesn't need to. Henderson will win POY, get over it dude.

Hi, back to ya. I'll guess the Holmes coaches aren't telling Henderson to never put up 25 a night.:jump: I'm sure they'd hate it if he did, that would be a real problem, I'm sure.

Since you quoted this post, you obviously chose to ignore others I posted, as was expected. Nice job.:thumb:

Now, we can all safely realize that Sorrell is a better passer, shooter, ball handler, and overall better player than Henderson. I gave you time to argue this, but the quote I got was the best you could come with?

These are fair statements as Henderson seems to play above the rim and Sorrell plays a lot outside the arc and usually between 10-22 feet from the basket. Henderson is the quintessential skywalker who can tip balls in, post you up and score basically on quickness and pure athleticism.

Sorrell seems to be a scorer and who cares if he has to throw up 24 shots a game to get his 22. Coming off of screens and creating shots is impressive just as watching Henderson fly around the basket. They are both different offensively but both very affective. The Defense goes to Henderson by far so that is what makes him probably the best player. He is purely a shutdown guy and he shut down Sorrell in their matchup.

As far as Highlands and their schedule I wont say HC's has been a little tougher but the Birds have played some very good teams from both NKY and downstate and actually came out victors instead of losers against most. McGraw at full strength is also just as good as anyone in the 9th Region. His passing capabilities are phenominal, he gets to the rim with quickness, is as strong as Henderson and shoots a nice ball. His defense has to be just as physical and ferocious as Henderson but I think Henderson's leaping ability might have the edge there. All 3 kids we are talking about here are very good players and should all be congratulated for having great seasons so far.

Holy Cross has played a FAR, FAR tougher schedule than Highlands to date, and Sorrell about doubles McGraw's output, as well as Simpson's. Holmes has played a very good schedule, but Henderson's numbers aren't close to Sorrell's.

This is what I mean by being a big fish in a little pond. You say tough schedule, I say very lopsided schedule. Here is HC's schedule so far. Other than Boone County, Holy Cross has not beaten a team in the NKY top 5 rankings or lost by less than 10 to any decent team not in NKY. From the scores, Holy Cross either blows out the other team or they get beaten in double digits (with the exception of Harrison). HC has won 6 games by 10+ points while only winning 2 by less than 10, lost 5 games by 10+ points while only losing 2 by less than 10. If he is supposively "The Team" at HC, then why isn't 'the team' winning (or getting anywhere close) in more games against good teams? I am not trying to say that this kid is unworthy of a top 4 mention, I previously said I think he could be as high as #3. I am trying to say that he may be a stud putting points up at Holy Cross, but Holy Cross is the little pond, in my oppinion. They pound the other small schools, but badly struggle with the bigger (higher ranking) ones.

I saw Sorrell again tonight and I think that he is still a great player. But he was shut down by Romes of Beechwood in the second half and it was not because he had an off night shooting. He was defended very well. One thing he will have to work on is how high he dribbles. Too many times did he turn it over or lose control because of his high dribble.

Romes and #21 for Beechwood should be on the watch list.
