January 16, 200818 yr A lot of bad calls tonight. Patterson had 2 fouls that would not have been called in a HS game. I couldn't believe it, but in all actuality it worked out well for Kentucky. Bradley & Crawford were the only 2 who decided to play tonight. Mark Coury needs to realize what he is capable of -- or more importantly, what he's not capable of. He's a disaster. I'd love to see Jared Carter get his minutes...or AJ Stewart. It still baffles me how Michael Porter can go from starting one game and not get close enough to even sniff the floor for the next two (or was it 3?). I think Billy G is a little too hard on these guys. I started thinking -- how many times have you seen BCG congratulate a player as he jogs off the court? My count is still at ZERO. I understand what BCG is trying to do, but you've got to be positive, especially during game situations. All in all, I can't complain with the effort we gave tonight. Playing without Jasper & Meeks is tough. Although it's frustrating, I think this team will be fine once we get everyone back in shape and back healthy...or so I hope. The officiating was horrible in this game. Kudos to the big guy from Miss. St on a quadruple double: 10 points, 12 rebounds, 10 blocks, 16 uncalled fouls :sssh:
January 16, 200818 yr First of all I would like to ask BCG if he has heard of or taught his team to shot fake? Secondly the difference was IMO Coach Stansbury had his team better prepared for UK(look at the blocks and turnovers) Miss St. wins by 20 if they shot 65% from the FT line. I think they shot in high 40's. Also Hansboro did not play for Miss St. which hurt them. I will agree Jasper and Meeks hurt more, but Patterson was taken out of the game and Stansbury a KY guy just did a better job the Billy G. Now it is time to watch one of the best in the business disect him up on Saturday. Stanbury didn't have his team prepared for anything. If Kentucky had any other scoring thread on the floor with Crawford and Bradley, they win by 8-10 points. Miss. St. is nothing special and they were very fortunate that UK had key injuries last night. Nice attempt to get a shot in on Billy G. though. :thumb:
January 16, 200818 yr Stansbury is an excellent coach. Kentucky guy. Like him a lot. Wish we had him. By "WE", are you referring to Kentucky?

Let's face it the man got out coached again. It is a common pattern!

Let's do the math, State usually shoots 61% from the FT line and they shot 17-33 in this game. If they hit their normal 61%, then they make 3 more FT's, which hardly adds up to a 30 point win.

January 16, 200818 yr I think that we have established that the OFFICIALS lost this game for UK...ok on to Florida I guess.
January 16, 200818 yr I think that we have established that the OFFICIALS lost this game for UK...ok on to Florida I guess. The officials in this game were pathetic. I guess elbows and forearms are part of the ball though - as long as you have the rep as the nation's best shot blocker.
January 16, 200818 yr At the beginning of the year, I really wasn't happy with Bradley and Crawfords. It seems they are starting to buy into the new systema and seems to be packing this team on their backs. Now that they are doing this, it seems the team is starting to pick their play up. Great effort tonight. Definately missed Jasper and Meeks. I also want to note that 10 blocks is a great stat, but I think half of them should've called fouls.

I guess its not a foul if it isn't called, but my question to the refs would be - how could you miss those calls?
January 16, 200818 yr #32 for Miss. State had 2 fouls and 10+ blocks. I'm sorry, but that is impossible. This kid should have had 4 fouls or fouled out of the game. The officiating was horrible in this game but thats SEC basketball on the road for you! Crawford and Bradley did what they could. Throw in Jasper or Meeks and the Cats win this one.

If they just halfway made decent calls, the shot blocker would have been on the bench early with 2 fouls and the whole complextion of the game would've changed.
January 16, 200818 yr I think that we have established that the OFFICIALS lost this game for UK...ok on to Florida I guess. The officiating was bad(typical on the road in conference).............but in my opinion UK lost because: 1. The defense in the first half was not very good. 2. UK did not have enough scoring options(Harris 2 pts in 38 min & Coury 3 pts) 3. UK took the ball inside, but too many times they did not go strong. 4. Gordon shot 5-7 on 3 pointers. 5. Vernado was a defensive force.

You really have to disregard a lot of BB's posts if it has anything to do with BCG or the job he does on the sidelines.
January 16, 200818 yr The next time Jimmy Dykes calls a UK game, someone please remind me not to watch... All I've learned so far watching games that he calls is that Vanardo plays behind post players, UK runs their offense at a 45 degree angle, and they need to work on their traits of toughness... He's like a broken record...
