January 6, 200818 yr When talking about a public figure's private life and alleging improprieties? Absolutely. There is nothing about his private life there. Nothing defamatory. What improprieties? The rumor of he and his staff being rude and going out of the way to insult to loyal supporters is a public act, and is only an impropriety to those he's insulting or being rude to. No rule violations I can see. I don't like Reed for the most part and don't agree with this column, but he's doing what all media does, everyday. By the way, we discussed this column just after it came out here: http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=138830&highlight=reed
January 6, 200818 yr I am a cats fan and bleed blue, but was also glad to see Preston Knowles play well today. Did anyone see that rebound he got...he was up there. Tubby offered Preston a scholarship just a couple of days before he left. SHould have been on him sooner.
January 6, 200818 yr Tubby offered Preston a scholarship just a couple of days before he left. SHould have been on him sooner. Wouldn't of mattered because Preston had NO interest in UK at all..
January 6, 200818 yr Tough one... I thought UK did a decent job in the first half of reversing the ball and then attacking the basket against the zone, and converting or getting to the foul line. They closed the half poorly with a shot to extend a slim lead...they had 3 straight turnovers...but was able to hold onto the lead. Then at the start of the second half they open with 3 straight TO's and miss two wide open threes. UL went on a run and UK was never able to regain their footing. They stopped attacking and settled for perimeter shots. Patterson had a tough day...first time he has seen a physical double come his way and he didn't handle it real well. Turnovers is killing this team...and defensive lapses. IMO, they are getting better on defense...but it is not good enough right now. When Louisville is moving the ball and making open shots they are really good... Not going to hang my head...just hoping the players keep plugging. Tough 4 game stretch coming up.
January 6, 200818 yr Wouldn't of mattered because Preston had NO interest in UK at all.. Very true... OTS never put in time to develop a relationship with him.
January 6, 200818 yr I would rather go to my dentist and find him out of Lidocaine than watch this team play. Four losses in the next four games is a real possibility..Only 4 wins in the SEC..even more real ...and I'm being optimistic. An NIT bid for this team is a LONG SHOT at best.
January 6, 200818 yr Tubby offered Preston a scholarship just a couple of days before he left. SHould have been on him sooner. No knock on Preston...but its a sad commentary when he can let talent like Lofton get out of the state without a scholarship offer but give them to Knowles and Carter.
January 6, 200818 yr I'm astonished that 48 out of 90 predicted UK to win this one (on the prediction thread). Was it the big win over FIU, or just a case of a lot of UK supporters going with their hearts instead of their heads?
January 6, 200818 yr Was it the big win over FIU, or just a case of a lot of UK supporters going with their hearts instead of their heads? Both of those plus UofL's poor play to this point.
January 6, 200818 yr Both of those plus UofL's poor play to this point. Probably right; I forgot that UC had just beaten UL.

Loften is not the only good player that has gotten away. Dan Langey?. Marshall Co, Damien Fishback Greenwood, Justin Doleman Ryle, Ross Neltner Highlands, Scott Hunley Scott Co, David Graves, Lexington Catholic, Greg Buckner UHA, Darin Holloway UHA, Isiah Victor UHA, Lemont Barns UHA. Ron King Louisville Central, Dave Cowan, Not sure of high school..but was in Northen KY. Jimmy Hollon Hazel Green Acd. Joe Dan Gold, not sure of his high school, Paul Smith Owsley Co, Rudy Macklin A louisville high school This is no knock on Loften but as you can see there are lots of kids that did not get landed by the two big instate schools, Louisville or UK. At least Preston is now playing at Louisville. Vandy Langey? Ross Neltner Scott Hunley Tennessee Loften Victor Stanford Holloway Auburn Fishback Clemson Buckner Xavier Dolman Notre Dame Graves Temple Barns Florida State Ron King Dave Cowen...then Boston Celtics for over 10 years. Alabama Jimmy Hollon Mississippi State Joe Dan Gold Paul Smith..He held the FT record till Kyle Macy broke it. LSU Rudy Macklin

LSU Rudy Macklin Dan Langhi or Ron Mercer...that was Pitino's choices...and I think Victor was also in there. Heck I think UK offered Victor but he chose UT. What about the good high school kids in KY that we offered and got? Todd May Jeff Zeigler Mike Scott Troy McKinley Brandon Stockton Josh Carrier Corey Sears Just to name a few...recruiting is not an exact science. What about the good players from KY we have gotten?

Agree on the recruiting, just pointing out that Lofton was not the only player that did not play for UK or Louisville. They both have missed out on some qreat players that have been very successful at their chosen school....not just Lofton. Heck, David Graves lived right next door to Coach P when he was at UK.
January 6, 200818 yr Dan Langhi was the SEC POY for Vandy. Pitino never even sniffed in his direction. He is still playing part-time overseas.
