True, so true. The gym in Sandy Hook is very small, but watch a game there and you'll feel like you're at a state of the art arean just because of the atmosphere.:banana:

Augusta....It is one of the few bandbox gyms left. Who has the oldest gym?

 

Worst would have to be Heritage.

 

No doubt, my favorite is Augusta , then the Feildhouse for the bigger games.

 

Worst, Silver Grove (no lighting), Herritage, and St. Pats

Lex Cath,Mason,and Raceland are really nice gyms.

True Raceland has a nice gym.

Holy Cross (Cov)

One of the best would be the Fieldhouse. One of the worst would be Rose Hill's. Just a Morton type of building we the sound just bounces from side to the next. As for the sixteenth, it would have to be Raceland's for appearance and Boyd's for size and atmospshere.

Mason Co. is by far the best shooter's enviroment as there could be. I know from experience (and a lot of it). I disagree with CovCath and Holy Cross being good shooting enviroments.

 

I also could never stand NewCath's, CovCath's or Holy Cross's floor. They are like playing on concrete. I know I would have ended up with a broken knee cap or two for sure if I had to play my career at any of these schools.

There are many top notch facilities in NKY to watch a basketball game. With respect to facilities only I would include Ryle, Holmes, Connor, Campbell County and Villa as the best.

 

At the other end I would list Heritage, Brossart, Highlands and Silver Grove as gyms at which I least like to watch ball games.

 

I agree, Brossart's gym is one of the worst. I would hope that someone out there is setting some money aside for an upgrade sometime in the near future. It's been good to them for now, but IMO they could use a new facility and possibly make the old gym a concert hall or something.

The worst was St. Henry's old gym on Dixie Highway. Small, concession stand always smelled like old flat soft drinks, locker rooms were closets until 1982 or 83, at least the home side.

If that was still used for high school, I'd say yes. I love it for grade school though. I like a little throwback.:thumb:

Henry County's gym is great. Even though it is old, it's still a great place to watch basketball.

 

The lighting at Henry is terrible. Original lights from whenever the gym was built.

St. Henry, as a high school gym, was terrible; however, as a grade school gym, I love it. It was always one of my favorite places to play, growing up.

I used to love NCC's scoreboard where the players names were listed and lights used to indicate fouls! (the only time my name was ever "in lights"...hack-hack-hack-hack-hack-sit).

I have been in, and played or coached in all the big Indiana gyms, and yes they do take their basketball extemely serious there, but the best gym of all the Indiana gyms is in Knightstown Indiana where they filmed most of the the movie " Hoosiers". It is really a cool old gym. Acually there are a couple of those gyms in Indiana that hold over 10,000, New Castle field house being the largest I believe.

I thought the majority of "Hoosiers" was filmed at the old Brownsburg High School gym in Brownsburg, IN? Are these the same gyms?
