Mason County has one of the BEST gyms in the entire state, great place to watch a basketball game.

 

Henry County's gym is very spacious, but I don't think it is a great place to watch a game, the crowd usually isn't very into the game at all.

 

Augusta has one of the nicest (Smallest) gyms around. Small school and a small gym, but it is very nice, very colorful and bright, and a great atmosphere for HS basketball.

 

I guess when I think of NKy, I think of closer to Cincy, but I can't disagree with two of the three above (never been to Henry Co.). The Fieldhouse is an amazing facility, but only when it's packed or the crowd is hot. If it's a small, quieter crowd, it can be too big, if that makes sense. That being said, region tournament there is unmatched.

 

I second the nomination for Augusta. By far my favorite gym to watch or cover games. A really good setting crowdwise, and you're right, the brightness is unmatched. Makes for good picture-taking as well. If you've not been, I highly recommend when the boys are playing either Bracken County or St. Patrick for a great atmosphere.

Connor's gym is nice as is Holmes.

 

The worst gym I have to say is Heritage Academy. They have aluminum bleachers causing you to have a headache when you leave the building.

I love the Fieldhouse no better gym in the state IMO.

 

I agree with Augusta as well. Always a good atmosphere. I always get a sense of Hoosiers when I walk into that gym. Always very loud and great atmosphere.

For a small school Dayton has a very nice gym as does Newport.

 

Villa Madonna has the best view of any gym I've seen. Bleachers are all on one side. The wall behind the benches is glass with a nice view of a Lake. Very beautiful.

Villa does have a nice gym. The only problem I have with it is when there are day games (such as holiday tournaments) the sunlight is blinding making it almost impossible to watch the games.

What about gyms at Beechwood/Ludlow/NCC?

I like Raceland's gym. Very nice!!

I also like the atmosphere at Mason.

Lex. Cath. doesn't have a gym,,,,they have a facility!:thumb:

NCC's gym is terrible. IMO.

Lexington Catholic reminds me of Ryle, both are nice.

Beechwood is a newer gym with seating on one side. Although not the most spacious it typically sufficient for their crowd and a nice place to watch a bball game.

 

Ludlow is a little older, also with seating primarily on one side. Not really big which, with a larger crowd, seems to make it always hot in there.

 

NCC may be the oldest gym in NKY still being used. It is spacious with good seating on both sides but does need some updating. It is drab and needs the same type of updating that Dixie has recently done.

There are many top notch facilities in NKY to watch a basketball game. With respect to facilities only I would include Ryle, Holmes, Connor, Campbell County and Villa as the best.

 

At the other end I would list Heritage, Brossart, Highlands and Silver Grove as gyms at which I least like to watch ball games.

I really like the variety of gyms in Northern Kentucky. There really isn't a real model everyone follows. I know Simon Kenton and Dixie have the same gym set-up, any other schools?

I was just in Cov. Cath's gym a few weeks back and it hasn't changed inside since I played there in the '80's. If you mean the outside of the gym, I do agree.
