Emminence is a terrible place to watch a game. Bleachers are uncomfortable and there are support columns about every 25 feet that always seem to block your view right as a big play is happening. :cry:

 

I would much rather watch a game at Heritage Academy than at Emminence.

Is Henry County the gym with the scoreboard hanging from the ceiling at the middle of the court? If that's the one I'm thinking of, yes, that is pretty cool.

Yes, a big horseshoe type gym that was built many, many years ago. They did it right!

Villa does have a nice gym. The only problem I have with it is when there are day games (such as holiday tournaments) the sunlight is blinding making it almost impossible to watch the games.

 

I agree, the sunlight can be unbearable there at times. I have actually referee'd there several times working JV games and it is tough to see the play when you are facing that window wall. Doesn't help the image of referees beign blind!

I think Henry County was built in the sixties. I believe it has been the site of the boys eighth region and Henry County Invitational ever since it opened. There have been many great games played there and it is a great place to watch a game. The gym comes to life when it is full and has a great atmosphere. As we discuss the great gyms, just imagine what a show place this was in the sixties. It is one of the great ones still today.

Was in one last night. Highlands gym is pitiful. Teams bench is on the floor. Dixie team pushed their chairs to the bleachers so their feet weren't on the floor. So all the fans coming in on that side had to walk in front of the bench to find their seats. Some did this during game action. Also there are no walkways to get up and down from the stands.

NCC's gym is terrible. IMO.

 

NCC and Cov. Cath have the exact same gym, why is it terrible?

NCC's gym has been notorious for having moisture problems on the floor. As for the facility, it's OK.

The gym would be a great gym if the administration would invest in some new lighting.

Highlands has it in their phase of projects I hear so hopefully it will get done within the next 3/4 yrs. I cant believe someone cant paint black lines up and down 3 or 4 areas on the bleachers though so you can walk up and down. If you get there late and someone in your family is 5 rows up in the middle, good luck. You are stepping on people, grabbing shoulders,etc etc....

NCC/Brossart had a fantastic game going a couple years back and it had to be called because the players were going to get injured... You cant put a big crowd in NCC in cold weather...

I think 3-4 yrs is a stretch. The gym will be in the last phase. We're hoping its ready to go for our grandkids:D

Yeah, I do remember the lighting being pretty bad. I'm not a fan of Bellevue's lighting either.

One other sad thing about the Highlands gym. When you walk in you are greeted by a trophy case and numerous plaques of past championship athletic teams that have been ruined by sunlight. Did anyone notice this was occurring or did it just happen one day when it was really sunny?
