I wouldn't ever....how many high schoolers around now, remember UK's last final four? Actually remember watching it?

 

 

 

I am sure quite a bit do. I am a sophomore in college and I can remember vividly the 96 championship - so by that logic highschool seniors, especially die hard bluebloods like myself, would remember atleast the 98 championship.

 

I also remember losing to UNC in the 95 tournament and losing to UCLA early on in the regular season. I remember in 93 when Michigan beat us - and my grandpa being so disappointed we missed the championship. In fact, at 4 year old I can still remember my mom crying when Christian Laettner hit the infamous shot that kept us from the final four.

 

I don't buy for a second that kid's don't remember UK's late 90's glory. If, at 20, I can still remember watching them play in 1992 and not even be a basketball player myself - I am sure lots of kids that are especially connected to the game (AAU/Highschool kids) would remember 96-98.

Just my two cents, but if we knew about all the behind the scenes stuff coaches do and truly evaluate their morals before sending our children to these schools, there would be very few schools kids could attend, imo. Now some may be a little more out there for public scrutiny, such as a Huggins, BCG, Petrino, etc., but deep down the majority of these guys are one in the same.

That's a solid way of thinking and pretty much my rationale as well.

 

To answer the initial question, If I had a son and he was talented enough to play for a major DI school, I would give my guidance but ultimately the decision would be up to him. If he is OK with BCG, so am I... Once you get to the age where you are picking where to go to school, that should be YOUR decision and not your parents'.

Any kid would be proud to put on a Kentucky uniform, especially Kentucky boys because it means something to them.

We see the results now, now ask the question after a win...

 

Even if that means it'll be 3 years before you ask it again...

To the thread. From the games I have watched (and all on TV), I just can't tell what concept/style UK is trying to install. Personalities aside, that would be important as well to a prospective recruit.

If my son is good enough absolutely.

I think he is good enough already but he may not be tall enough.

He is only in the 7th grade right now and is 5' 7" - 5' 8".

However he likes the North Carolina Tarheels.

Well maybe not those who are UL fans, but everyone else, yes its true.

The best program in the country is UNC, followed by Duke, UK hasn't had the best program in nearly a decade.

 

All time?? Your kidding right? Duke isn't even in the conversation, last 20 years, yeah throw Duke in there. History speaks for its self.

Alot of people dont like his coaching style or the way he is tough on the current players.....

 

Many players and coaches who have previously played or coached under him have nothing but great things to say about him. Acie Law said he was like a father to him.

Yes, I would let my son play for him. Teach him the value of working hard and holding him accountable, accepting responsibility. Also, making a hard nosed player out of him.

I have heard that some of the player's parents have really been "getting into the games" lately. Anyone else heard such rumors?
