Daniel Pettit- Williamsburg

Interesting, at the combines ESPN noted past winners in the bench competitions have not had stellar careers in the NFL.

IMO bench is the least important of the 3 big lifts.. Power clean, squat, bench in that order.

Tyler Hussey from Montgomery County

Bench: 365

squat: 515

team does not clean.

Took 3rd in the state powerlifting meet for the heavyweights.

I believe Trinity's Jordan Whiting is the world record holder in the dead lift for his age.

Is that strong enough?

He can't be the world record holder. Holmes had a kid a few years ago by the name of Lucius Jackson (Buddy Walton's brother) who as a junior deadlifted 685.

That's great! But what is lifted in the weight room and lifted in strick rules competition is two different things.

Actually it was done at a mational competition and he was in BFS for it. I'll try and find the article.

Tyler Rollins, squat 600, bench 365, clean 300

Zack Hopkins, squat 500, bench 400, clean 280

Jeremy Collins, squat 530, bench 315, clean 255

Garrett Phillips, squat 500, bench 315, clean 245

Aaron Brock, squat 500, bench 250, clean 215

I had a coach tell me long time ago that they don't put much stock in the squat and bench because there are guys that never can transfer them into athletic ability. He gave an example of the kickers in college squating more than linebackers but not being able to transfer that into tackling guys. He also said that lineman that bench the most but get bull rushed because they have bad feet or poor technique.

He did say that he puts more stock in the clean and the short shuttle because they better show the explosiveness of a player and I have noticed that the better players also have the better numbers in these two skills.
