Strongest returning players for 2008

Those 3 that you named for Danville could be good, but I wouldn't consider any of them SOLID. If we're talking studs that can make a big difference, I will go with those 2 sophomore linebackers, Lynn and Raines.
Lynn an Raines are good but there not as those as the ones that where named those three could carry the team Lynn an raines are not good enough to do that.

I guess we'll see...but in my mind Gray, Henderson and Simon had their chance last year and definately blew it carrying that team anywhere. One other name I will mention is OL/DL Evan Hester; he could be a stud.

Copley has had some significant jumps in strength so far this offseason

Rockcastle County

Cole Abney 10th grade Tackle/DT/DE

Bench: 306

How do you put 306 pounds on bench?

How do you put 306 pounds on bench?

Rockcastles weight room has 33'2 22's 11's 5.5's along with the 45's 35's.... Cole Abney benches around 350 now and is shootin for 365, his power clean is 300 and he's just shy of 315.And his sqaut last time he maxed was 455. He is 6'1'' 225 and is a sophmore.

I know there was a thread on here before but I want to know who the strongest kids are in the weight room returning next fall for their respective teams.

I am guessing that Ollie Head, Travis Alford, Josh Conner, Austin Collinsworth for Highlands are pretty strong. Anybody benching over 300 and squatting 450+?

It's not all about the weights. Look at Russell's system of training.

You can add Rosenhagen to that list.

What is Russell's system of training?

I'm pretty sure at Highlands they know it isn't "all about weights", but they understand it is an important piece to the puzzle.:thumb:

And the Frank boy too. He's pretty strong.

The funny thing about these threads is that each year I read about this certain school or that certain school having all these exceptionally strong players, yet with the exception of perhaps Trinity (which does well in the weightlifting competitions), come championship time, I rarely see some of those teams winning state rings. Take last year: Trinity, Highlands, LexCath, Central, Ft. Campbell and Beechwood. Maybe my memory is just failing, but I don't seem to remember posters of those schools making posts last winner about all the fantastic numbers being lifted by their players (bench press over 350, squats over 500 etc). Are their players putting up such numbers but the posters keeping it a secret, or are the weight lifting programs at those schools using some different weight lifting philosophies? Or was last year an aberattion and do the schools with players pushing huge amount of iron win the majority of state championships? Honest questions.

Interesting, at the combines ESPN noted past winners in the bench competitions have not had stellar careers in the NFL.

Saturday at a seminar, Coach Joe Hornback made the statement that there are D1 athletes and D1 players. D1 athletes are the one's that are "all-airport" guys and weight room junkies...the coaches are looking for D1 PLAYERS. Guys who can PLAY the GAME! (although you DO have to be able to have a certain amount of size/strength).

I think this coach is 100% correct.
