Walton Girls BBall: What's the problem?

Featured Replies

John Anderson would make a good coach.

John has to many relatives (neices, nephews, daughter, son) involved in the basketball program. This could lead to problems that I'm sure the Administration, parents, players and fans do not want to deal with. It wouldn't be a smart move on anyone's part to even consider this option.

Do you really think this is the time to discuss this? I think the Administration is smart enough to know there is a problem. As of yet there has been no mention of a possible opening at head coach. :D

I would just hate for the girls coming up decide to move elsewhere. Cheesemans' dad coaching at Ryle. She could go there. Ginn could go back to Ryle. Sandlin lives in Williamstown and Judy lives out of district also.

I know, but there is a time and a place for this discussion. I saw it before say about 7-8 years ago. I do not want to lose anyone either, they are going to be fun to watch. With the administation having the pressure of some very good ball players coming up, they will do what is best. Give them a chance.:jump:

Don't he have relatives on the softball team? Was there a problem there?

I thought there were a few. But then again how many fans go to the fastpitch games? The coaching spot was open and not many applied. He was by far the best qualified to take that job.:jump:

We did!

Who did? And have they gone through the proper channels to get the issue resolved?

How about bringing back the previous coach. He did nothing but win. He's a proven winner. He consistently went to the Regionals, won Conference Championships, and went the the semi's in the All A State Tournament. Additionally, he had several players go onto college with Basketball Scholarships and he was instrumental in helping secure these scholarships for the girls. Enough said.

Agreed. They need to just come out and say they made a mistake. And fix the problem. This season isn't all lost. There is still time, they need to figure something out (administation) and don't let these Sr's down. They have worked to hard, to long, to get let down by someone.

The chance was given when there were quality candidates that applied for this job and were passed over.

Agreed. They had a chance to make the right choice. They first messed up, letting go the former coach, and then passing others over for this current job, and now, won't fix the problem that is happening with this talented team. They had their chance to make it right, but didn't.

Actually, the job was offered to someone else first . He/she turned it down.

Understood but there were quality candidates up the depth chart. Even the initial offer wasn't the best choice.

I am aware of who the candidates were and there wasn't alot of interest or highly qualified candidates. I think they made their decision based on who they felt would be the best fit. Was this decision right or wrong, I don't know. Give it some time.

Not true.

There were a couple of problems regarding John and the softball team. However, this is not the place to discuss these problems and we need to get back to the topic of this thread.
