Walton Girls BBall: What's the problem?

Featured Replies

Sorry, I guess when you said they were unorganized and not worth attending I should have assumed you were talking about the players and not the coach. My bad..

You know what they say about assuming!

Doesn't change the fact that the seniors should have been in the gym working on their game. Open gym is what you make it, and using a dusting of snow as an excuse not to go is...........well, it is just an excuse.

I have heard that the open gyms they have had in the past are unorganized and really not worth attending. Freshman don't drive so a parent probably had to take her to practice. Most of the upper classman probably drive and are not going to risk it in bad weather to play a game of knockout.

If you're dedicated, you will use every opportunity to improve your game. A parent could have taken them. Whether they are organized or not, it sure wouldn't hurt to shoot free throws. Looks like the leadership is lacking. They need to remember, "when they're not working, their opponents are".

And probably their parents are working also! Today's weather was not a dusting of snow for a teenager to be driving in. If you noticed Kenton County Schools were closed today because of the weather!!

Excuses - find a way. This was not the blizzard of '78 were talking about. Besides, I think quite a few of the WV parents were available to transport kids today if they were asked.

I think your saying that but you have no idea if that's true are not. If it is true let me see you prove it. We are all waiting!

I was watching the news tonight, and saw that Kenton County and other's are already on hour delay's, etc. I understand that's tonight, but waking up this morning and driving to where I needed to be, wasn't the most pleasent drive I have had in a while. I wouldn't think parents would want to risk their child's life to go to the gym for an hour or two. I understand they need to work on things to get better, but you can't say this is an excuse, it's something that no one could help. Then you think that parents could drive them there? Well, one question to most everyone on this site? Do you all work during the day, like let's say around 12:00, noon? Because I do? Just curious?

C-Town, I agree with you completely. I would not want my teenage daughter driving in that weather. I also do believe a lot of Senior players on Walton's team do not live in Walton or Verona and live further out and would have to travel on bad, curvy roads.

So, I'm just saying that I don't think this is an excuse but something the girls couldn't control.

C-Town is the one who said that the Freshman probably had a parent drive her, that's why she got there. I just raised the question about the others. They have parents too. So was the coach wrong for even having an open gym given the terrible weather conditions we had today? And you wonder why there is a problem with the Lady Cats program.

No, no, no, I don't think the coach was wrong at all. I don't think it's wrong to have a "open gym" or whatever if the roads are bad, and who show's up, show's up. But you can't bash the girls that didn't. The coach cancelled practice because the roads weren't good, and so, you can be mad that the girls didn't come because the roads weren't good, that's why the coach cancelled practice. And yeah, i'm sure all the other players have parents too, but the FIRST practice was at TEN, so most parents probably worked their work around then, not around NOON, which the open gym was for, so by then it's to late to switch their work around. Right? Or am I way off?

The open gym was from 10:00 to 12:00. All I am saying is that the fact that only one kid showed up for open gym speaks to the fact that there is a problem.

I don't know where you get that I'm bashing the girls. I'm not at all and I don't want anyone to think I am. I just questioned their desire to be at the gym. It's that simple.:thumb:

The practice was 10:00-12:00, the open gym was from 12:00-whenever. Thought I should clear that up.
