Reds trade Hamilton for Volquez

Pat Dad is so much smarter than LRCW. :D

Funny you didn't quote your post where you said you loved the trade. :)

Go back thru the post. It's scary how accurate TheScribe was.

I said that I LIKED the trade. :p

Let's remember, baseball is a business. Nice guys & great stories don't win baseball games.

I like the move. Hamilton is expendable, although I would have loved for him to stay. We got 2 young, live arms in return and 1 is even left-handed. A great deal for the Reds, even if these two don't crack the majors this season.

Seriously though, I still think it was the right move. The Reds had plenty of talent in the outfield at that time. Hamilton was talented but risky. Volquez was brilliant for a year.

It was for sure the right move at the time. Reds needed pitching BAD.

Coming into this season, who has hit more HR's since the trade - Josh Hamilton or Jay Bruce?

How about comparing the Reds leftfield production since the trade to Hamilton's production in the same time frame?

The Volquez trade will turn out to be a great trade, for the Padres.

The Hamilton trade was the worst trade by the Reds of all time. I said it then and I'll stand by that statement.

It was definitely the right move at the time. You take pitching over risky hitters every single time.

The Reds got less for Robinson, and he won the Triple Crown the next year, and beat the Reds in the World Series in 70. I say that remains the worst Reds trade in history.

And it's not even close.

Certainly, that is the ONLY trade that rivals the Hamilton trade.

Josh Hamilton became the first Major Leaguer since 2003 to hit four home runs in a game during the Rangers' win over the Orioles Tuesday night.

Volquez pitching again soon, for the PADRES.

^So because he hit 4 HRs in a game that makes him some kind of baseball great?

Someone needs to inform Mark Whiten and Shawn Green.

Reds pitching was 27 out of 30 teams in 2007, surely another outfielder that hits HR's will fix that problem.

Certainly, that is the ONLY trade that rivals the Hamilton trade.

Based on this logic the Angels should trade Pujols for Phil Humber...

And Latos pitching soon for the REDS

And Latos pitching soon for the REDS

Yep. Latos and not having 3 other prospects is the end result of the Voltron/Hobbs trade.
