There hands are in constant motion, I didn't mean to throw that jab. They are an excellent team, and they have great instincts for the game.

 

Elliott just plays "all out" in every game. There were fouls both ways that weren't called, and those were even IMO. Elliott just never quits and never lets up. That is why they have done so well.

The twins have the quickest hands I have ever seen in high school basketball. In fact their whole team is constantly slapping at the ball and anticipating dribble direction and passing angles. Very impressive. I don't know enough about basketball to be the judge but from what I do know I would not call Elliott Co. a great fundamentally sound defensive team--but at the same time I would say that they are one of the most effective defensive teams I have ever seen. (Does that even make sense?) What I mean is that tonight they were double teaming and extending their defense out like a bunch of crazed dogs. East had people wide open...often...but the pressure on the ball kept them from finding the open man.

 

I went away from this game with 3 thoughts:

1. East Carter is athletic and they will get better. They are a solid point guard away from being a really good high school team.

2. Elliott pulled away in the second quarter without Ferguson and tall Knipp. Scary!

3. I have been thinking all evening about a high school team that I would compare Elliott with. I don't know that I have ever seen a 16th region team (in over 40 years) that I would be willing to say 100% sure they were better than this Elliott County team. They are good. I will be traveling to Mason Co. for their game with the Royals.

Sounds like it was a good game. Elliott is 30 points better than anyone else in the region at this point.

As for the Raceland 10 points better than East, i guess we will eventually find out. My personal thoughts would be East is the better team, and is probably in the top 4 in the region.

It's all a bunch of "what ifs" at this point, but I could see this team running the table in the All A tournament. No one in the 16th region appears to have a chance at this point.

 

Barring injuries or something flukish happening, this team could very well be right around 35-2 going into the Sweet 16 at Rupp.

I agree, they are always in the mix when it's all said and done. Goodness knows there is still 3 months of basketball to be played. All indications are that this Elliott Co team isn't slowing down anytime soon.

Wow. The Lions continue to roll. I really want to get out and see these kids play. Is this the most dominant 16th region team that we've seen in recent history? I certainly can't recall of one that was this dominant.
