I don't think it could have been any harder on the opponents than in 2007, and it wasn't quite 50/50. If running is your strength, then run it.

They could throw when they needed to. ie last play of 1st half/ state game. They just were rarely in a spot where they had to throw. No one could stop the ground game, and the D wasn't givng up many points.

I prefer to use the 3rd down completion to get the first down on the first drive of the game to TO as the example of passing when needed. Ya' gotta admit the Hail Mary, though perfectly executed, was a "prayer". Dale is going to "dance with the one that brung him" (Josh Connor). We may see a little more of the short/possession passing game. But if Josh averages 8 yds a carry like this year, then the ground patrol will roll onward!

Nothing makes it more difficult for the opponent than a good running game. Look at the time of possession in the state game and basically every game this year. Highlands controlled the tempo of the game on offense. A ground attack relinquishes very few turnovers and IMO, wears down the weaker opponent. Dale has moved to the running game over the last 6 years. It has been very kind to him as it brought 2 state championships and a state runner-up! I look to see Dale and company continue the ground assault in 2008! To continue this campaign, I see some players making changes to bolster the O-line.

I know the Bardo lad is very talented and capable of playing several positions on offense and defense. However, I do not see that happening in '08. His sights are on the QB position and I feel he will give Tony some stiff competition in the Spring. The competition will be good for Tony and Will.

Let's not rule out Jake Turner. The kid did nothing but step in this year when needed and excelled beyond alot of people expectations. There is no reason this kid doesn't take the extra step in the off season and get a real shot at being a serious threat next year. My depth chart right now would be based on experience is Tony,Jake and then Will.

It will be good to see Highlands play at Hopkinsville this year. The stadium is excellent and I'm sure there will be a number of folks in Western Kentucky turn out to see the vaunted BlueBirds take on the Tigers at home.

Based on what I saw Jake do in JV after Will went down, I definitely agree Jake should get a legit shot and that's not being disrespectful to Will or Tony.
