Folks, I'm not kidding, we really are going to be very, VERY down next season. Our class of '09 is as week as we've had in a decade. We are going to be very sporadic in our play. It's a good thing this game is at Colerain or honestly, I would install Highlands as the very early favorite. :eek:

 

As far as the JV game the following day...no contest. Colerain should win that game handily. Our Freshman class is very solid and combined with the class in front of them, our JV squad should be loaded next season.

 

I still haven't heard a reasonable expectation for Highlands next season. Is it realistic to expect them to defend their crown? Or, are they a regional contender at best?

As far as next season's expectations go for HHS, HHS will DEFINITELY be right there at/near the top of Class 5A next year. In fact, I predict that HHS will be the BluegrassPreps preseason number-1 team in 5A for 2008. Now, HHS will very likely be down some from this year's squad, especially toward the beginning of the season, since they will be breaking in a new QB and possibly a new offensive gameplan (with emphasis on the passing game), but when you consider that the other "usual suspects" in 5A also lost a lot of talent/experience, the Bluebirds will be right in the thick of it. I'm sure that Coach Mueller and the HHS players will all be expecting title number 19 in 2008.

 

I do think that HHS at the beginning of the season (which is when they play Colerain) might be quite a bit different than HHS at the end of the season, given the big change in the QB situation.

 

... with all things being considered, Colerain should be and very likely will be the favorite in this game.

Whether it's Guidulgi or Bardo at starting QB, neither one is much of a running QB, certainly nothing like Clay Cecil this year. Plus, Dale and Co. have a talent for tailoring the glameplan to each HHS team's strengths.

Why does the QB have to run? I think HHS strength again will be in the ground game. The only proven threats they have are runnning backs. They may pass a little more, but I run Conner and co. till the cows come home. JMO
