I was surprised at the mistakes NCC made in the second half. For a team making their third straight title appearace, NCC had several illegal procedure penalties at bad times plus the red zone fumble late.

 

That has been there achilles heel all season. Sounds like Ft. Campbell took advantage like a championship team does. Congrats to them. NewCath will grow from this as a program.

This has been floating around all season. I believe that if/or when it does, you will see a very quick hire, as I believe they have all but named a "Successor." From what I've heard, it will not be Dave Schneider, though I know that he would do a great job.

I am pretty amazed at this one, I was for sure that NCC had it locked up!! Congrats Falcons!!

That had to be the KHSAA broadcast. I started out listening to them, but the guy on there was so drab and monotone, it was hard to listen to. They wouldn't give the score or time, and the play-calling was so mechanical I was beginning to wonder if these were robo-announcers.

 

Then I switched over to Ft. Campbell's (WKDZ) internet broadcast. It was literally like night and day. Even though they weren't for the team I was rooting for, those guys had life and personality. They kept you in the game and made it a lot more enjoyable to listen to.

There is something that is just so right about this one. I hope this gives those folks over there in the Middle East a really nice Christmas present.

Congrats to Ft. Campbell on a big win....Way to represent America's finest both here in Kentucky and every where else in the world!

 

I am glad that the Falcons were able to win a championship admist the sadness of recently losing some fellow Falcons fighting overseas.

 

The Falcons played a great game and NCC just fell apart for about 2:30 minutes while inside the 20 in the fourth quarter....this series cost them the game.

Congrats to the Falcons on a very impressive showing on both sides of the ball. They reminded me alot of some of the past Danville teams with there athleticism and ball pursuit and alot of different people making big plays. Surprisingly, NCC shot themselves in the foot a number of times and killed any momentum they were trying to get going. These teams sounded very equal in talent, it just wasn't NCCs day. Sounded like a great game, though, by both teams...

Funny thing is that Ft Campbell now has more state titles than NCC. Talk about a lack of knowing one team's tradition. Those Ft Campbell teams in the 70's were very good and showed it by knocking out an outstanding Mayfield club in '80. They went on to lose to a tough Corbin squad in the final.

I remember those late 70s, early 80s games with Mayfield & Ft Campbell. They had some wars, for sure. FTC also beat a very, very good Pikeville team

there 1st year in 2a, I believe it was 78 or 79. They were loaded that year. That Mayfield team in 80 had 2 of the best RBs in Mayfield history with Marcus Moss and Jon Redd and a bigtime FB/LB in Pinky Parrott.

Then you would also know that NCC has been to the state finals a total of seven times.
