Sounds like Mason should have won bigger, but a win is a win. Congrats to the Royals!

If Miller keeps putting up numbers like this, he should be a starter next year in Rupp.

Good win for the Royals. Give credit to Cov Cath, they didn't back down and kept on swinging. Cov. Cath. is a very solid team, and should make more noise as the season unfolds. Great atmosphere in the Fieldhouse tonight.

CovCath game stats....

 

Didn't get home until around midnight, and I have to be at work at 8am.... I will post my thoughts and comments later today.....

 

BTW, a big thank you to Alma Cornish the Manager of the Wendy's just up the street from the Mason County Fieldhouse on comping our dinner after the game. When she found out that Mark and Jason were the Radio Announcers of the CovCath Basketball team she told us that the dinner was on Wendy's. WOW, that was a first....Again thanks Alma and thanks Wendys..... What a nice thing to do.....

Man my royals looked good last night. Really impressed with the intensity on the defensive end. CovCaths student section is a sight to see, hats off to them, and the team for not giving up and getting back in the game during the 4th quarter.

Each coach should have a game film to take his permanent stats off of. I keep stats and the guys who are watching the plays at the game miss and add to a lot of stats and they are hardly ever right. That is understandable because the play happens in a flash and if they didn't quite catch it then they have to guess?? You can set down with a tape and rewind the play and get it right. Miller could have had 5 rebds, or 25 rebds, and with out a game tape audit no one will truly know. I would assume most coaches do this.

I assume it was #24 for MC that drew Happy Osbourne and his assistant to Maysville tonight. That kid has a great game. A 6'7" shooting guard as a running mate for one of the better players in the country is tough to overcome.

This is the first Mason Co. game I've watched this year and thought they were really impressive. I want to see anybody who can challenge Darius for POY. He has the ability to take a game over anytime he wishes. Mason will have to do a better job on the boards the rest of the year. And I thought this game was very physical. It seemed there were a lot of fouls not called. Im not sure if all of Masons games are this physical but I thought a lot of fouls were not called. JMO. Great atmosphere for basketball.

I've not watched Scotty Hopson play so I can't speak to his abilities. However, I can't imagine that he's actually better than Darius Miller. He had 24/12/5 without much effort last night. Unlike many big scorers, he didn't force anything. He took what was there. IF he wanted to, he could have gotten to the rim everytime but I'd imagine the coach isn't interested in having the other 4 be spectators especially when you've got the other weapons they have.

 

Oh yeah, D's little sister also got in my pocket as well raising money for a smartboard. Can't say no to cute little girls.

I still see quite a bit of standing around by the supporting cast in the half court.

But, who needs a half court offense when you got a beast of a full court press?

Seemed like everytime Miller and King trapped a CC player it was two the other way.

And did anyone see the kid from CC that wore the Mutumbo, Nuggets throwback? He resembled McLovin from Superbad!
