I did not and will not will not bad mouth Coach Rash. Please re-read. My reference was to Moeller. Being on the staff and running the show is two different things....I think there may be a little more responsibility and pressure. Don't you? Or, do I just don't know what I'm talking about?

 

The Moeller job may the most difficult in the area pressure-wise. Heck Crable had barely taken the job and the complaining had begun. It is unreal to expect Moeller to attain the levels of the 70s and 80s today but that doesn't stop the Moe faithful. Whomever takes the job faces a tough task.

I clicked this thread expecting to read some rumors about Beatty from Trinity being courted or at least being a candidate. Has he done everything he can at Trinity? Is he the kind of guy who would look for a new challenge after seven or eight years of great success? Is he a coach that wants to see what it's like in the deepest waters of high school football (the GCL and Ohio D-I in general)?

 

If so, then I'd think he'd have to looking at this opening. He's already in a catholic school, so he'd probably actually get a pay increase, where as most public school employees would have to take cuts (yes, even at Big Moe).

 

Then again I can tell you this, the Moeller job isn't even in the same stratosphere as it was 20 years ago, and isn't nearly as attractive as it was even 10 years ago. The emergence of Colerain has hurt the name recognition, and St. X's building of the what looks to be an empire, severly hurts your chances to even when league and regional championships, at a school that expects state titles.

 

Pressure at a high profile school is one thing, but totally unrealistic fantasies from yesteryear are another. Moeller has the latter, in a school that is having to fight tooth and nail to keep its own parish kids away from St. X.

With my above post said, some names or possible candidates I think might be interested that would also interest Moeller. I'm leaving out all potential candidates from NKY, just for the sake of this list.

 

The coach at Columbus DeSales has won a ton at a catholic school and has played GCL South schools in the past.

 

Grippa at LaSalle. Yeah, he's a west side guy, but he was an Elder guy before that. Proven GCL coach who may think he's seen enough of trying to compete with Colerain for players.

 

Rodenberg at Bacon. Strong GCL ties, lots of head coaching experience, a state title, and I'm almost sure he was at Moeller under Klonne. If he was at Moeller as an assistant, it helps his cause even more, as the Crusaders like to hire from within, or at least within the family. Which leads me to...

 

Any current assistant who has become a name himself. I can't think of any off the top of my head though.

 

Beatty from Trinity I think would be a no brainer for Moeller, if he's interested. As I said in my last post, I have no idea if he is.

At the time this was posted the Beechwood game should of been over .Does that rule him out ? I sure hope so .

How can you say that, I have watched this man coach all year, and IMO has as much talent as anbody out there.

 

Because it's Moeller, Crable was a legend during his playing days and that didn't allow him any extra breathing room. I'm not bashing Rash, but I would think they have a fairly select group to chose from.

Then again, I can't fault the man for taking on a challenge. From all I am hearing he is not looking seriously at the job. I really do not know how seriously they are looking at him either. All rumors I have heard have the coach off last year's Cov. Cath. team as the leading canidate.

To say that Rash cant coach at Mo is not a smart statement because coaches have to organizers, motivators and decision makers. I believe that Rash can do this. Kentucky schools not competing with the likes of GCL teams has nothing to do with his ability to coach. Previous comments about him not being able to coach in the GCL is more about the talent level than coaching.

I do not think a coach would leave Trinity for Moe.

While I don't doubt he will be at BW, what else could he say at this point? Does he have any other offers? Until he has a legit offer, we won't know.
