Nope. Like I said above, maybe I should have reworded it to not be so forward.

I don't believe homosexuality is a choice therefore I don't believe that it can be morally wrong.

OK, so if there is no choice involved, then couldn't a child molester, who was molested/abused as a child, technically be said to have no choice in the matter? What's the morality of that situation?

Yes. It does. There is a part of the brain( I have no clue what is called at this moment, if requested I will look it up) but it connects the right and left parts of the brain together. In men that part is narrower than in women. In gay men, that part of the brain is consistently larger, as in females. and Vice Versa

Corupus callosum....and I just know that is the part, I'm not familiar with what you are talking about.

The bible says homosexuality is an abomination. So whether it be genetic or environmental, it is wrong. Period.

It also clearly states that if I work on the Sabbath I should be put to death.

My understanding of brain development in the fetus is that at a certain point, the body releases a chemical into the male brain that basically, damages the brain. This is the main difference in male/female brains. I'm assuming then that something goes wrong at this point in the homosexual.

Essentially! So if you take the chemical inbalance position, homosexuality is essentially is a birth defect, that could be correctable.

Which brings up another ethical issue, I have heard of people who believe correcting defects such as downs syndrome, missing limbs, and others, is going against the way God intended to make you. If you take this view, then you cannot pick and choose which birth defects are God given, and which arent.

Just a little food for thought.:fire:

I am not sure what you mean by "environmental factors" so I didn't vote in the poll. Homosexuality is a choice, it is sin, and therefore morally wrong. However, with that being said we should hate the sin, and love the sinner and reprove them in a loving manner showing them through the scriptures that Christ is the answer.

I really don't believe anyone can honestly answer the question unless they are a homosexual. If that is how you are created, then it can't be morally wrong according to my personal philosophy. As for the incessant Biblical references, which amount to maybe two verses in the New Testament, I would contend they were intended for Christians. In other words, as a Christian you shouldn't engage in homosexual acts.

I'll also throw another wrench into the machine. I occasionally read about other religions and beliefs, and I've heard that some people believe homosexuality is the result of reincarnation, i.e. a woman reincarnated into a man's body. Enjoy that one.

Habib, as you've indicated, you don't have the answer, but from what I read I'm not sure how this

If that is how you are created, then it can't be morally wrong according to my personal philosophy.

is possible as well as this

In other words, as a Christian you shouldn't engage in homosexual acts.

Should a Christian who was created that way (if that's possible) be given an exception to the rules?

As for this:

:p Where are you occasionally reading then?:D

It also clearly states that if I work on the Sabbath I should be put to death.

Then I hope you work for Chick-Fil-A.

As I have stated in an above post. If it is genetic, can it truley be sin? You cannot change how your brain is wired.

I don't believe it is a choice. I know a gay person who came from a loving home, and has two very ungay siblings who came from the same home with the same parents. He says he's been that way since he can remember, and says he was born that way. I think he knows better than most of us.

While my morals tell me that homosexuality is wrong, my Christianity also tells me that it is not my place to judge others. I will continue to think its wrong, but will not be the judge. The same judge that I will face someday will be making that decision. Until then, its love the sinner, not the sin!
One of the great stumbling blocks of Christianity is the whole "judgment" issue.

My Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Apart from Jesus Christ, we’re all stained and regardless of how I may feel about myself, I am no more or less worthy than anyone else. It is not our place to “judge” individuals in regard to their fitness for Heaven. That's God's job. It is entirely appropriate however, for us to “judge” actions/behaviors as either beneficial or counterproductive.

Do I have a problem with homosexuality? It depends on how good looking the women are.

Where is that on the list?

This quote should be a man law!!

Claims of a “genetic predisposition to homosexuality” as a justification for behaving homosexually does not logically hold water, any more than claims of being “genetically predisposed to adultery” justifies cheating on one’s spouse.

Whether a person is “genetically predisposed to homosexuality” or not has no bearing upon the merits and ultimate outcomes of actually behaving as a homosexual. As cold and cruel as it may sound, from a purely Darwinian, molecules-to-man evolutionary perspective, the “genetic predisposition” argument does not bode well for those who claim it. Apart from a kind and loving Creator, nature it appears has defined such a genetic trait as a weakness it is determined to remove from the gene pool, by predisposing homosexuals not to reproduce.

It is contended that some individuals are genetically predisposed to alcoholism or drug dependency. Yet we as a society do not condone drunk driving, public drunkenness, drug abuse, etc. just because their genes drive them to behave in a self-destructive and reckless manner. The logic for this is clear. The consequences are simply too great. If you are a natural alcoholic or druggie, there is wisdom in not drinking, lighting up, popping or shooting up… no matter how badly you may feel the urge.

Some are predisposed to heart disease, cancer, etc. and yet they fight those genetic predispositions with all their resources.

A genetic predisposition does not necessarily mean that one is helpless and unable to resist.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, is there not a good chance (maybe even a likelihood) that said individual was living a lie for many years to assimilate more easily into society but once they got older and less worried about other's perception, they became true to one's self? Can you buy that as a reasonable explanation for your example?

I voted "B" by the way.

Well, yes and no. Perhaps if they were "coming out of the closet". But there are instances of folks who have gone from homosexual to hetero. How do you explain that?
