Yes actually I do. Give me a legal reason based solely on logic and devoid of religious reasons why they shouldn't. Give them civil unions an be done with it.

The thing with domestic partner benefits is very simple. It's their money let them use it the way they want to. I don't see any reason cohabitating hetero couples shouldn't be allowed the same benefits that married couples are given. Either drop the benefits for married couples or make it an equal playing field.

Requiring employers to insure the health of gay "spouses" could make health insurance unaffordable. One study showed that hafl of the gay men currently age 20 would not see their 65th birthday. We should not be promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.

CONCLUSION: In a major Canadian centre, life expectancy atage 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for allmen. If the same pattern of mortality were to continue, we estimate thatnearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged 20 years will not reachtheir 65th birthday. Under even the most liberal assumptions, gay andbisexual men in this urban centre are now experiencing a life expectancysimilar to that experienced by all men in Canada in the year 1871.

But being considered an adult, in any time, making your own decisions such as who you will marry and such, is a lot different from being told who you will marry and who you will have sex with, such as in the Warren Jeffs case.

People should not be treated as "property", And all deserve the right to be treated with respect.

Well, I agree that you should be able to make that decision on your own.

I think the point of how do you say no to polygamists and yes to homosexuals. And then one worker and you could have 6 women on health insurance from one man.

Don't we already have a problem with immigration and fake marriages to garner citizenship? I could see that an increasing problem with scams for insurance purposes.

Would you be in favor of dropping healthcare for obese folks, alcoholics, smokers, diabetics, etc.? Hetero people make unhealthy lifestyle choices all the time.

A national healthcare system would solve the problem in one fell swoop, but that's a topic for another thread.

Even worse idea than homosexual marriages.

I can only respond by saying having one spouse/parnter would be equal, anyone can have one spouse, not two or more.

But as far as the benefits, I think anyone should be able to have anyone they wish on their policies and such. If not a spouse/partner, then a relative, I just think everyone needs to have the opportunity to add someone that they wish.

As far as scams, regardless of who it is it should be dealt with, no matter who it is or what the circumstances are.

Im sorry, but I don't see this whole thing being a big issue. I think this country needs to worry more about national security, fixing the immigration problems and dealing with the scary road our economy is going down. Besides national security, one big concern should be how Japan and China are becoming A LOT closer. With Japan's ability in technology, and China's ability to produce, it could be a huge hit to the US if we don't do something about it now.

Totally agree.

Yes I do b/c of my religious beliefs. Also believe that they should have all the rights that I have because there's no reason (other than one's religious beliefs) that they shouldn't. I believe it's wrong to lie, covet, and commit adultery, but there are no laws against that.

Out of morbid curiosity- if, on Judgement Day, God asked you if you supported homosexuality, would your response be- "Well, I didn't support it personally, but I supported it politically." Would that be an acceptable answer?

You may say that God doesn't care about politics but if you truly believe that homosexuality is wrong than I can't understand supporting it. As well as the other reasons why it is bad for our country.

On judgement day when God asks you if you ever supported a sin what will you say? I don't support it, but in the country we live in there is no reason why people shouldn't have equal rights.

Nice straw man though. I salute you.

Why are these no longer practiced? How is one part of the law entirely applicable, while the other isn't? I firmly believe that you cannot have one without the other; the law does not "half apply" now - it either does or doesn't.

GRACE

If Jesus came to "amplify" the law, why aren't we enforcing these even more strictly? Why are we not sacrificing animals or following any other ceremonial laws?

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. Once and for All.

This is what I am trying to understand: The New Testament mentions immorality a lot but where is it defined? I believe we apply our own definitions to immorality that are colored by our worldly beliefs.

A relationship with Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead you into righteousness and away from sin or immorality. Pray and seek God He won't turn away anyone who truly seeks after Him.
