Two questions:

Is homosexuality morally wrong?

Is homosexuality genetic or environmental (note: for the poll's sake, I think it is fair to say one or the other, not a combination of the two)

I don't see why a combination isn't an option. It actually makes the most sense to me. A person could have a chemical imbalance that makes them physically attracted to the same sex, or they could have had issues. I've seen what I believe to be examples of both. I know of a guy that had twisted issues that escalated into homosexual behavior, and I know a few guys and girls who just prefer to be with someone of the same sex, no odd or twisted experiences as a youth involved.

Either way, unless somebody is getting hurt in the process, I say to each his or her own. I like women, and I wouldn't want anyone telling me that I shouldn't, so I don't see the need to tell homosexuals that they shouldn't prefer what they prefer.

The reason why I decided not to make a combination an option is that (from my experience) many who believe it is from environment believe there is ZERO genetic influence. Also, I believe that there are many who believe that the genetic factor makes it accetable.

Either way, in your case, as a Christian, do you believe it is morally wrong? You are entitled to your political belief, this thread is more in the "religion" category though. As in, as a Christian, do you think it is your right to tell a homosexual that his sexual preference is a sin. Not in a condemning way, but as HHSDAD said in another thread:

I think its our job to point out sin in others. Unfortunately, most Christians are lousy at doing this in a loving, empathetic manner.

I think that is acceptable.

While my morals tell me that homosexuality is wrong, my Christianity also tells me that it is not my place to judge others. I will continue to think its wrong, but will not be the judge. The same judge that I will face someday will be making that decision. Until then, its love the sinner, not the sin!

I said environmental, but I'd like to offer a hybrid opinion. I believe that many homosexuals have atypical hormone levels, particularly testosterone levels, that allows the environment to more strongly influence them. So in a way, it is somewhat biological. But that doesn't make it genetic.

My religion isn't even quite set. I believe in God, and I believe Jesus set all the right examples, but I'm not sure if Jesus is literally the son of God. In this case, I can't believe it if I don't know. I certainly don't think the Bible should be taken literally, as it was written by men (yes, there are plenty who would still argue this is a moot point, but I wasn't there, I don't know, I logically cannot believe it was the mandate of God).

I don't think it is morally wrong. It is certainly not my thing and I would never be attracted to another man, but as I said before, I am attracted to women and I would not want anybody telling me THAT is wrong, so if a fellow man is attracted to another man, and they are happy, who am I to tell them what they are doing is wrong? Are they hurting anyone else in the process? I am a firm believer that being exposed to homosexuals is NOT going to make anyone lean towards that lifestsyle if it's not the way they function, so I don't buy the argument that peolpe having to watch a gay couple holding hands are being 'hurt' in any way.

I can understand those who argue that it makes them feel very uncomfortable, and I can't blame them. But I honestly think the entire political and religious focus on homosexuality is overkill, and I lose respect for our political system everytime I see a politician bring the subject up as if it has any bearing in my life what two people do behind closed doors.

Id say its a little bit of both. Sure there are environmental factors, but Ive read in several articles before that a homosexual's hypothalamus is much larger than in straight individuals. So I would have called 'edge' if given the choice in the question.

If it is a combination of both, can a person with no genetic predisposition (like a person with a replica of a heterosexual's brain) to homosexuality become homosexual?

If that is the case, then I can't see it being too much based on genetics.

We studied in Psych class, that Prenatal hormone imbalances could cause the brain of a biologically male person, to be wired like a female brain. If true, would Sexual Reassignment Surgery be a correct option?

Does this apply in reverse to females?

Wouldn't that open up another ethical Pandora's box?

How can something be genetic and morally wrong?

How can something be genetic and morally wrong?

I am lost on this one . I morally don't think it is right, but some might have something wrong within them that makes them lean toward the same sex.

I agree, good question.

Within that realm of love the sinner, hate the sin, can you tell a homosexual that it is wrong what they are doing?

I'm not saying in a condescending way, but in a caring way. Is that wrong?
